I dont know.. it takes more than loudness to make an ideal sounding exhaust.

I dunno man.. I think you have rose-coloured headphones on (?). It is so tinny. Ignoring the burbles, of course, which are all software. Love the colour though wow does it ever look insane in sunlight. CF diffuser really sets it off.

OEM DP's, AA midpipe, Remus rear...sounds really good. Deeper tone and the overrevs have a snap.
Yes I just searched this. 100% this is the way to go (single path midpipe). Still not quite as raw in the high rpms as the N55 but sounds identical or better in low rpms. Why on earth wasn't this the factory setup?

Agreed. I have a DP. It made it worse. They always make it worse. Except for when the N55 is being wrung out but how often does anyone do that.

Lol I suggested headphones because it's more close to real-life example that way I totally understand where you are coming from tho. There is no denying that N55 is the better sounding engine. My point was that there are ways that you can improve the sound of S55 as others have suggested and I definitely don't think S55 sounds equally bad for every different exhaust setup out there.

I dunno guys...to each his own, but these clips all sound a bit like a burlap sack of drowning kittens.

Maybe the GINORMITY of that M2C muffler will improve the sound, that thing is huge, lol...I'm sure IND will come up with something that will disguise it.

What do you think about S55 in these videos? What is the secret of the CS exhaust that makes it sound so much better?

Came across this video and have to say it really makes me want to get the AA midpipe now. Checked AA website and the F8x midpipe is sold out, guess it's really popular.

Stock DP, AA Midpipe with Stock ZCP Muffler.

Geez, even that one with the mid pipe sounds like the UPS truck to me.. I dont know, maybe its just me, but I havent heard 1 S55 yet that can approach the average N55 in sound quality.. Dont know what it is about that engine, but sound isnt its strong suit, as we know.

Luckily for future M2C owners the S55 is superior in every other way. S55 FTW!

Eisenmann makes one of the better rear sections, far better than the MPE.

Rear section only

You always come into these threads with this. Are you just really trying to reaffirm your purchase? You know there's tradeoffs but you always jump in and chirp.

As for that AA midpipe sounds great. Why didn't BMW do this?

Probably due to emissions. The AA midpipe deletes the secondary cats, but your won't get a CEL since there are no sensors that far back in the exhaust system. I've also done some preliminary research on potential drone since the midpipe doesn't have a resonator, but everyone seems to say it does not drone. I was also concerned with passing emissions, but others have reported they passed emissions fine with the AA midpipe.

These days emissions is plugging into OBD2 and checking if all the sensors says everything is good to go.

If there are no sensors to detect their removal, then it probably passes just fine.

This actually doesn't sound too bad. At least on video

Stock DP, AA Midpipe with Stock ZCP Muffler.

I wonder if the guy that took this video disconnected his ASD? Since the sound was coming from inside the car, that is an important factor. Maybe his mic was outside the car?

It was recorded from the outside. Description from the video.

I was happy with the way my 2017 F80 M3 with competition package sounded but wanted to make it louder without breaking the bank so I installed an Active Autowerke midpipe. This midpipe eliminates the two secondary cats and resonator, increasing the sound. I still have my stock DP & rear section. I will be driving around town at various RPM levels to give you a good idea of how it sounds. I placed an external mic right above the exhaust on the rear bumper to capture the sound.

I actually think this sounds the best out of all the clips we have heard - which means there's hope for the M2C because the M3CS sound is OEM.

I was intrigued by this so I checked realoem, but they didn't list the PN for the M4 CS rear muffler. ETK however did and I was surprised to see it's a completely different part. No idea if there's anything physically different with the internals of CS system.
