I can't say I'm a fan of the note on this, even with valves open. I know you'd hardly ever see it as it's under the car, but I also don't like the look of the rear muffler cans either. They're just a bit plain looking. I have held one of these Remus mufflers though and they are quite light. I'll give it that.

With OPF limitation, there's only so much you can do. Pretty much all of the listed exhausts in this thread take the stock sound and make it a bit different but not enough to make it sound like something new.

I think Remus gets close to Lightweight with darkness in growl and overrun pops and burbles. Eisenmann is the most conservative but also the smoothest which for those who hate the crackling is a big pro.

I'm still very undecided on which one I'll end up pulling the trigger on.

I'll have my Lightweight exhaust fitted on 20th April at their HQ in Fleisbach. I'm looking forward to hearing it on my car in person after hearing the various sound clips on the internet. I really hope I'm pleased with the end result 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I should probably code out ASD in the cabin too.

I think you'll be very happy with it.

Turning ASD off is definitely suggested when mounting an aftermarket exhaust.

Don't know if they updated the bimmercode app but last time I used it and coded ASD out, there was no option to revert it back on.

If you want to tinker with it when ON/OFF, I suggest installing this ASD bypass harness. Takes around 5 minutes to install.

Thanks for this. How does the product work? I can't make sense of it from its description.

It's just a physical bypass which blocks and mutes ASD from playing from the speakers.

Install is just a matter of removing a few plastic rivets in the trunk and placing the cable between the amp and another cable.

Can't really give you the technical side of it but all I can tell you is that it works flawlessly!

I will have to see if it's available in the UK. If not then permanently coding out ASD it is

I had ASD coded out and it ain't ever coming back as long as I am in the car.

Exhaust sounds great without the ASD, so much more natural. For those Comps without the OPF, you don't need these exhausts as acoustically they are just minor variations of the stock exhaust noise and don't really sound better. Change for looks but don't expect a better quality soundtrack.

I think the best sounding one is the aFe by far, followed by the AA. Both have a single mid pipe and this makes the biggest difference, in a good way! All the others just sound like just another raspy variation of the stock sound.

This is all based on videos, obviously.

True but here in Europe you have to work with what you got

Most people care about warranty, so a mid-pipe is not really an option

I recently made a bunch of people listen to stock and all of the listed aftermarket exhausts

Half of the people actually detested the cracks and pops and ended up preferring stock and/or the eisenmann exhaust.

This said, none of the exhausts, including the one's with the mid-pipe, where given anything above a 7-.

It is what it is.

I'm leaning towards eisenmann now. Hope to hear more if it soon.

Would a single midpipe void warranty?
Dinan's exhaust should be coming out soon and it sounds promising!

In Europe indirectly yeah, because with a mid-pipe you'd have OPF issues so you'd need the dme flashed to avoid limp mode

With a non-flash related solution to car running limp mode as a result of OPF removal, it could also be problematic with BMW reps

You're kinda force to leave the device installed for the car to not run a CEL and BMW reps will most likely investigate what's wrong. Not sure what they can do or say but it could create complications with eventual warranty work. (For good and bad reasons)

If you're in the US, where OPF doesn't exist, midpipe shouldn't void warranty. Probably only warranty related to the exhaust.

I think that's so funny, how people's perspectives are so different. For me, the burbles and pops sound amazing. That's the best part I think.

I'm also in this unpopular camp. I just want them louder and deeper in sport mode so I'm patiently waiting to hear MPE and any others before picking one.
