I've been at the VPC since 7/14, and genius today told me today that my lengthy wait at VPC is probably because they're just "behind" and that there are no holds or record of specific repairs on my vehicle.
It went from 'we don't know why it's delayed' yesterday, to 'you're part of the differential recall' today...so it seems their info is changing daily, and the number of affected cars is quite a bit larger than they originally thought.

The bulletin is worded with "approximate 202" so the list can be much larger. Unfortunately for me, my car is still on the boat and hasn't been checked in so I can't have the VIN run to tell me if in fact my car is affected. My VIN isn't on the list so fingers crossed.

True, and that's the number of cars on yesterday's VIN list.

It seems that number is growing. Based on the number of people who were told they were affected (but weren't on the 202 list) I fear we're talking hundreds, if not thousands, of additional cars.

I have a feeling cars that are not already on a boat are being held back in Germany to be fixed by the mothership. I wish they would at least release the cars to make the trip over the pond and then fix the problem at port or by the dealer.

Unless they have somewhere at the port to fix them, I doubt it. Regensberg is 7 hours away by truck, and Munich is 8 hours away from Bremerhaven. Makes no sense for that, especially when they have the ability to do the repairs here.

so...seems like genius doesn't know anything. my SA has been very unhelpful basically throughout this entire process. Does customer relations have more info than genius?

I don't think anyone should get their hopes up. Most likely every car is affected lol, I was not on that 202 car list as well , but my Dealer told me today my car is affected.

Mine is scheduled for PCD tomorrow Friday and was told today by BMW NA that I could not take delivery of the car, I could participate of their activities track etc and could see the car but no delivery.
Parts have been ordered from Germany with no ETA. Car will be shipped once repairs are completed. Car will be repaired at their facilities in Spartanburg

So I guess that means any car affected still at the factory will get fixed there.. Could be a long wait

Bummer, just called the Genius and found out my car is affected too. Haven't heard anything from my CA. Going to email him now to confirm he's seeing the same thing (mine VIN wasn't on the list either). Glad mine at least made it on the boat and is in the US. Also happy that I got to experience my full ED trip with no issues. Hopefully we get a fix soon, this wait is killing me!

It seems a lot of you are indeed affected by the diff recall. I am sending everyone replies. The majority of folks that have messaged me are indeed part of the recall.

Please note, I am unable to check vins that are not registered with BMW NA.

CA contacted me to inform my car is as of July 21. Customer relations does not show a stop - probably not updated in their system yet. My car is in the states and "work order started" ... Specific to Port installed accessories. PCD scheduled for 8/8. CA said that BMW will contact each owner... Has anyone been contacted by BMW? What are the options given?

Also, I messaged a couple people yesterday. It seems BMW has updated their system. I am going to recheck and PM you again.

Are any cars produced after 7/4 on the list, or has that end date stayed the same?

Add me to the club that's been affected when I was originally told I wasn't. Fuck me sideways. I had appointments setup this weekend and next week for installs. Looks like I will have to wait.

I have told forum members with VINS not on the list that they are affected. BMW right now thinks about 202 cars are part of the recall. This could get bigger.

so - definitely impacted.

Customer Relations person indicated that they are "developing a solution" - which made me less than thrilled.

Hoping that they are not developing parts for this.....

Mo is it more than a diff recall.. More than half the people on here were not on the list and seems like they are affected.
Also is it only US based? My car is on a ship since last the 12 of July and up to now nothing from the dealer which I am in touch with every day.

Ugh...we can only hope it's quicker than the airbag recall.
