I drive very rough and 99/100 of times I'll be able to control the car when it looses traction. However, those 1/100 times can be the difference between a nice car and a big paperweight |

I think the traction control in stock form is WAY too aggressive and intrusive, and I really like the way it is now, other than it still being too restrictive in 1st gear (almost impossible to get hard acceleration in 1st, since day one). Sometimes I miss my tuned S6 for the awesome launches it was capable of. I do enjoy being able to slide the rear around a bit with the throttle with this car now, though.

I just installed stage 2 last week and also notice that Sport Plus is way too intrusive to have any fun. I've been using DSC fully off most of the time and I've noticed the throttle response is very sluggish in that mode. Is there a way to improve throttle response in the DSC off mode? |

Another topic maybe, but I'd also like it if my tune set the behaviour of Sport+ to be exactly the same as Sport, but with MDM mode for the DSC. You get used to the Sport throttle response and steering, and full DSC off is an option, but as it is by default, if you want to use MDM, you have to choose between comfort mode response (traction mode), or over sharpened throttle response (Sport+ mode).

Just wanted to give some Stage 2 feedback regarding cruising - not sure if there is any concern out there about this, but here's what I just experienced:
Mods: - CSF Intercooler (Black) - Fabspeed Sport Cat - VRSF Charge Pipe Weather - mid to upper 80s (F) - mid-range humidity - 700-800 sea level Settings - AC on about 25% of the trip, windows up always - Comfort mode the whole way Stats: - 190 miles - Average speed 68.5mph (in a 70mph zone mostly) - 27.4 mpg This mpg was better than I expected and I was well pleased! |

I believe that I am starting to feel some misfires at full throttle - not every time however. I am starting to wonder how I diagnose. After testing it out again during a track day in two days, I am thinking of going back to the stock tune to see if it happens then - and if so, I will roll some dice and take it to the dealer. Thoughts from the smart people reading this thread...? I have 7,300 miles and always run the same 93 octane fuel - perhaps I should wait a tank before updating the tune which I will take care of during my next track event...?

7,300 miles seems early for plugs, but this is my first BMW. It'd be disappointing if that's what's wrong. Not sure if I should take it to the dealer for that or just do it myself because of the warranty situation. Would a tune cause the plugs to go bad this soon? If so, then I'll do it. If not, then I'll bring it to the dealer.

O2 sensors
I added Stage 2 Hex tune this week. Bolts-ons are Dinan intercooler, FTP charge and boost pipes, Fabspeed sport cat, and AFE ProDry filter.
Seat of the pants improvement is very impressive and I'm happy so far but not 100% blown away as there some mild surging at light throttle. Nothing I can't live with though. I was setting up data logging in Torque Pro to see if I could spot this and noticed that now only one 02 sensor is showing up as available (bank 1, sensor 2). Is this a function of the tune? Or could a sensor not have been reconnected when the cat was changed? Is 1x2 the cat in or cat out sensor, and should bank 1 sensor 1 be the other one available? If a sensor is disconnected, does it just disappear from the list available via scan? |

So far, it seems that it was a bad tank of gas from a gas station that I don't normally go to (it was out of town where I am guessing people don't normally pay for 93 octane). It took what seemed to be two full tanks to go away. HEX was very helpful throughout, by sending me their thoughts and helping (via direct mail) - I am very pleased with them in this regard!

I'd like to help brooke1972, but he's notorious for posts criticising tunes, usually promoting Hex, and being negative about others, but I'm not not sure if we should be taking him seriously or not.
I'd suggest getting some logs first to see what's going on. I realise that the Hex platform doesn't support this natively, but if brooke1972 has MHD, that does doesn't it? Otherwise Torque Pro had some logging capability. No one else is having similar problems with Hex, based solely on the brief description alone, so I think logging is the only way to get more info at this point.
