Anyway, this guy is just trolling (or doesn't know what he's doing). Look at all the rest of these videos:

He's just recycling the same one and desperately trying to sync them up. He also lifts in the M2 and is dicking around changing lanes, etc.

How is it possible to reach the same 0 - 210(ish)kmph (130mph) when the controlled test shows its about MORE THAN FOUR secs slower?

Just trying to be authentic here.

Does not make sense.
It makes perfect sense the evo article is comparing m2 dct v m235i manual whereas the video compares m2 dct to m235i auto. One might assume that a combo of more ratios and lower drag coefficient helps m235i claw back its lesser power disadvantage as the speeds raise......
Exactly.
The motor trend figures posted by @phatcat show .33 cd for the m235 vs the M2 with .35 Cd. That's a significant difference whereas the power they make is not very different.

The m235 tops at 142 in 4th gear and the m2 can only do 134...

it looks like he probably wound the cars all the way out in each gear and the aerodynamics kills the m2 at the top of 4th gear.

FFS of course it does.

M2 dct with more power and a shorter 3rd gear ratio compared to a manual m235i.

No wonder m2 is 1.2s quicker between 30-70mph

Regardless of the drag/aerodynamics etc etc let's just compare apple to apple for the same car same gearbox

His video : M2 DCT 0- ~210kmph about ~20.0 secs.

Evo UK : M2 DCT 0- ~210kmph about ~17.7 secs.

Still AT LEAST 2secs faster?? It makes a world of difference.

Of course you might wanna compare fuel in tank, ambient temp, etc etc but i digress hahah......

Anyway, just wondering if he's really trolling...

Trolling or not an M2 *is* faster beyond 120mph as stated by this:

0-120mph: M2 14.5s, M235i 18.2s
0-130mph: M2 17.7s, M235i 22s

Obviously a tad(understatement) faster(?)or am I dlyseltic/Stevie Wonder?

Let alone skidpad/G Forces and braking distances etc, I 'd say one would choose a M235i/M240i over an M2 because:
-No waiting list
- More compliant/less bumpy more comfortable ride/less interior noise
(Mine hase ASD turned off. A revelation!)

And that's it I guess?

As a daily M235 is fine, but real sportiness is just far from what I want(except for the engine), but each to their own.

Cheers
Robin

Extracts from the Evo test data is fine but dont you think a better comparison would a 6 speed MT m2 v 6sp MT m235i?

Evo data is 7 spd DCT m2 so should be a slam dunk....

Who knows.. on 1erforum.de is a German member with a 6MT M2 who got a 14.9s 0-200kmh(124mph) tested. Very fast. And stock.

In general the DCT through gears should be faster any time theoretically, but in practise...

It was by vbox or something like that. Anyway, some M2's are (being driven) different(ly) than other M2's I guess.

My life is not a dragrace, it's full of curves, turns and bends.

I really don't know why people put so much weight in some footage or even VBox claims from complete strangers.
I'm pretty sure an M235i accelerating downhill would be faster than an M2 going up the same hill, same day, same driver. What would the video and VBox times of those runs mean? Absolutely nothing.

Who's knows how much altitude, temperatures, wind speeds, passengers, etc etc played a part in those videos?

Robin - ditto hence why I put some money into my m135i chassis and brakes before adding DP and jb4. 5dr for family duties but gets down the road way better than when it was new. BP

The videos are garbage. This thread is 44% M235/240 people trying to justify their purchase, 1% one guy with an M135 who wants to play so badly, 45% M2 people trying to justify the same, and 10% skeptics here for the shit show.

Hoya - if you are referring to me then you are way off chap.

This guy (joe archilles) owns an m2 DCT and has got his hands on an m240i - LC on a tight new car seems impressive.....

No doubt he'll post a YT clip give an enthsiast's perspective of b58 powered car compared to his m2.

The m240i will likely be faster in a straight line than the M2, though of course some would keep saying that is not why they buy an M2. While that is true and the m2 looks great as well, i can't help but that feel that the M2 should be faster. People keep referring to the official figures but the reality is that the B58 in the m240i is likely EXTREMELY under rated. Just like it is in the 340i

And its entertaining as always when people want to justify their purchases. As long as you are happy, there is no need for justification.

Well a bit more grunt and power would be helpful, I have to admit. 50 more HP/Nm. The engine(for me) is a bit 'too linear'...I want a bit more drama tbh. The chassis is way too good for that sucker N55 engine lol.

I'd be wary of that '1% M135i' owner, he's running a pretty potent N55...
