I remain unconvinced that this is an accurate comparison. I want to see them side-by-side both using LC. That video doesn't look right IMO

2014 BMW M235i  [0.00]
2.0 degrees Celsius or 35.6 Fahrenheit cooler temperature made the horsepower delta between the M2 and M235i slightly smaller than the 45 bhp and 39 lb-ft difference on paper.

With natural aspirated engines, 36 degrees cooler temperature yields about 3-4% horsepower gain or 10-13 hp.

Eh. This video means nothing. M2 is faster and should be that way above 125 mph as well.

Yeah hard for me to believe as well, forget about the gearing, I don't see how BMW would design a M that loses out on the top end to a M performance model. If anything the M model should shine when it comes to top end power.

Videos like these are basically useless. Different day, different place and who knows what other differences we dont know about:

Headwind/tailwind
Uphill/downhill
Number of people in the cars

The cars need to be side by side at the same road to have a realistic and controllable comparison

Sad showing for the M2. Even if there are some variances that would make the M2 the same or slightly faster on another day, it's still way too close and the M240 will make that up.

This is basically what I felt when I did the M track day last week. The M2 leaves a lot to be desired when accelerating from 50 to 120+ and it really left me wondering if I was driving a defective example. I had hoped for a better showing when I drove it but it pretty much ensured I won't go the M2 route when my lease is up next spring. It's just not that much of an upgrade for me from the 235 and I currently track that car. Yes, the M2 is nimble amd tossable and would be sweet on those short and technical tracks but I would lIke a car with some more power for some fun highway acceleration and for larger tracks.

It seems to be only people driving non-M BMWs who care about these kind of things. Some kind of inferiority complex I think.

Not really floored is floored

I think the point is moot - I have never seen a 235 at the track
