My dealer took $1000. It is refundable if I change my mind with them, but even if the dealer says its not just use a CC......and it is.

I'm in Canada and I put a 1000$ deposit on one and they put the order in the system. Nothing is final yet as long as production has not started. My dealer said it is fully refundable for any reason.

But first I need to sell my C6 ZR1 and at times I wonder if I'm not making a mistake. I will need about 5k$ on top of the ZR1 to get the M2C.

The ZR1 has lost half its value already and it is head and shoulders above the M2C in any performance aspect. But the back seat will be useful (I have two kids) and the peace of mind of a fully warrantied car is nice. Plus the M2 looks like a very fun and tossable while the ZR1 is larger, more track focused and maybe not as playful.

Spoke to my dealer he still don't know how many allocations they will get as I am number two not sure if I will be able to order right way next week. I really hope they get at least two slots.

I put a deposit down at my dealer 18 months ago and I'm #1 in my state with only 4 BMW dealers.

Not sure if I want to keep it will wait to see release price and what's standard here in the US before deciding further....

Just placed a deposit on the first alloction a local Phoenix dealership receives. Surprised they didn’t have a list established like all of the other dealerships I contacted. Everyone seems to be doing MSRP on these vehicles so far, we’ll see how long that lasts.

It’s a mass produced car. Unless your dealer is tiny, they are BSing you or are trying to hold out to sell above list.
My dealer is getting 2-3 per month.

This is how it works. Already did this in the past for our family car (skoda octavia), worked like a charm and all official/legal.

Dealers don't even know what the price is.
For those with short memories, initial m2 allocations were about 2-3 every allocation period. For major dealers. As usual, I don't expect any dealer has real information at this stage.

US pricing and allocations are unknown at the moment. Canada might be a diffrent story.

I cant even get my local dealer to return my calls or talk to me about ordering one. Literally no one is willing to work with me if they have an allocation or ordering or anything. I cant give money away. OYE! I'd prefer to stay local but that seems like it's going to be difficult.

In places where there aren't other dealer options, it's like they know you have to come to them. With that being said, I've purchased a few cars from dealers out of state, and it wasn't too hard to work it all out.

And that allows you to shop around, and get the best deal possible, which will be harder when the car is new and the hype is at the highest.
