Hello Ladies and Gents,

Been away for awhile. Just put a deposit on an 18' M2. Production starts next week with delivery maybe mid Jan. Looking forward to getting the car.

This will replace my Mercedes diesel daily driver (boring). Used to commute a ton every week but don't have to anymore. So out with the frugal car in with the fun daily again. Yeah baby....

"production date" that the BMW system gives is actually the week it will complete production, FYI.

Completion to US East coast is something like 2-3 weeks typically, assuming no hangups.

Be prepared to stop for gas. A lot. The tank on the car is ridiculously small. (My TTRS had a bigger tank and one less cyl... M2 is once a week fillup and my commute is only ~20 miles/day.)

Congratulation! How'd you spec it? I like the GT4 & M2 combo! I'm thinking about doing the same in the coming years, GT3 or GT4.

Good point about the small tank. My 1M is the same. Lots of fill-ups. Total extreme end of the scale from my Merc diesel which could go 650/750 miles to the tank....

Thanks. LBB, Manual tranny, Executive pkg, Apple car play. Hopefully the car play will be better with the new idrive version and my IPhone 8+. I have read some folks displeasure with the Car Play working slowly with older iPhone versions. I suspect this won't be an issue with Ismail car and my newer phone.

Yeah, once I get the M2 , I will set Up the GT4 for mainly track work. I have it half way there now but haven't put in the nearness bar and harnesses yet. That and a more aggressive alignment would complete the optimum setup...

CarPlay is IMO a waste of money when you have a capable nav-enabled system like iDrive.

You can skip it when ordering and add it later if you want too...

Car play is a interesting animal to try and figure out if your not supper Apple savy. Also when you want to make drive system changes it seems you have to disable car play to access the BMW system. Something else...when I am moving and i hit the venue button it tells me I cannot make changes while driving..... My M4 allowed you to make changes to settings while driving I have shut it off Car Play until I am totally familiar with the car and have it set up the way i want it then I will turn it back on and try it. But it does talk to text nice

That's interesting M2ruder. The dealer mentioned something similar about issues with the Apple car play and asked if I was sure I wanted it. Thanks for the heads up.

I thought It was extremely useful for your last comment about the talk to text... my oldest son is a new driver (showing my age) and I liked the Apple car play for that very reason as he could continue to concentrate on driving while texting.. even though we all know it is not safe to text and drive, I am a realist and know he will do it anyway, even if we preach to him, not to do it. With the talk/text working it at least makes that function while driving , a little safer.
