I don't have to watch. I know what the clear winner for me is. Took me a millisecond. Even if cost was even.

I'm not surprised. I'd love a new M5C but it's length is too long for my townhouse garage stuffed with my hobbies. So the M2C is the default winner for me. It's fun!

Pointless comparison

Where they are similar.
Two cars from same make, Check,
Same number of doors Check.

Where they are not even close.
Price, nope
Market (real world buyers) nope
Engine nope
Transmission nope
Drive line nope
Weight nope
Size nope.

Would l like to drive both, sure. But if I could afford the more expensive one, I likely would have an entirely different lifestyle and would not cross shop these two cars..

If I could afford the M8C would I buy it, no, I would get a car more like the M2 comp only it would cost more, likely a P-car.

M2C for sure, although I am biased but nothing can beat a small and nimble RWD sports car.

M8 is cool and all, but, its pricing is its downfall, that's Porsche 911, AMG GT, etc. money, or even spring a little extra for an R8, the field is just too competitive around the $150k price point.

The M8 is too porky by far and that lack of space in the rear is plain silly.

Wasn't that surprised. The M8C is more a touring car than the M2C

Be serious......not one of you would take the M2 if price and size were of no regard.

If I could resell the car, yes. If you told me I just had to drive it every day and give it back after 3 years I am not sure... I drove an M850i and would strongly prefer an M2C as a daily driver for more feedback and fun.

The problem I have is there are stronger competitors at the price point of the M8 unless you are looking for that exact type of GT car.

This was my exact reaction, I would take the car for free if I could sell it and buy a Porsche or M2C and another car with the money

I agree. You're fooling yourself saying everything else constant you would take the M2c.

For a reason...

Bit of a silly comparo though. One's a refined touring car. One's a sports coupe.

Me? I don't want a touring car.

This. I live in the city. Big cars suck to park. Plus I am kinda a nazi when it comes to the manual transmission.

If I could sell the car after a year, I’d take the m8. But if I couldn’t sell, m2c every day.

Why? The M2C can actually have rear passengers and is possibly more fun to drive. If I can't sell the car ever, then I am taking the M2C every time.

This is like when everyone says they'll buy a wagon version of an M3, but when it comes time to pay up very few would actually pony up the cash. It's all hypotheticals, but just based on human nature most are going to choose the M8 if both cars cost the same.

I love the M2c and want one right now, but again if the prices were the same I'd choose the M8. Just being honest.

Given $145k to spend on a car, or cars, I would end up going with one of three options:

1. An M5C with spare change for extra wheel sets n stuff.
2. A GT350 or a Cayman S, and something comfy, like a 540 or an X3 M40 or something.
3. My M2C that I already have, pay it off the rest of the way, an X3 M40i, and a lot of spare change.

The packaging on the M8 is just too compromised for a car of its size. I think it's adorable, but I wouldn't buy it.
