First off I am very jealous of those of you that have your hands on the BMW M2. It looks to be an amazing M by all accounts! I have a feeling based on limited supply I am not going to be seeing this car for a while. I coming from a 335i e90, which for me was a trouble free enjoyable car for 6 years. I have absolutely no complaints. I am in the market to buy a new BMW, but I am torn on what direction to go because of my particular timing. I am not convinced the M4 is 15-25k better than the M2. Another car I had in mind was a low mileage e92 M3, but in California I cannot find a clean low mileage one that I have been satisfied with. Too many stories to list on that journey. Do you think in 12 months there will be some availability on the M2? It's one of the few times in my life that the wife says go buy your next car and I have not pulled the trigger because the few cars I want are not around . For those that have driven all three of these cars is the M2 the best one to get? In your opinion will the M2 inventory be here in a year or will I be waiting 2 years on this journey. I am out here in Sacramento, CA. I have driven both the e92 m3 and the M4. Both great cars, but completely different from each other. I would welcome your input!

I had the M4 for a short time and currently have a super clean 10k mile supercharged E92 M3. I get my M2 tomorrow. In short, I'm hoping the M2 is the most all around satisfying to drive.

It depends on what you're looking for? I use to have an e92 m3 currently own a m2 and have driven the m4. They all are amazing cars. I find the m2 the perfect size. My m3 was big and the m4 was even bigger. The m4 felt more like a grand tourer. The only thing I would want from the m4 on my m2 is a carbon roof. The m3 has the best sound but my gas millage blew.

Just get a mk7 gti new or used....will cost $20 to $25k max until used/lease turn in M2's start showing up for $35k to $40k. My DD is a leased mk7 dsg and summer toy is a paid off 6mt e92 335 (N54). Same as you will buy a M2 when my 335 warranty runs out. I have 100k/7y warranty on the 335 that ends 2018.

Thanks Mark! Let me know your thoughts on that M2 when you get it. Being that you have been in all platforms I referenced it will be interesting to hear your thoughts on the M2.

So you're saying in 3 years you will be able to get a m2 for 35k that is hilarious

The E90 M3 is the same length as the regular e90 with the addition of the front and rear bumpers making it about 2 in longer.

Therefore the E90 M3 and M2 are roughly the same length in theory give or take an inch or two.

If I couldn't get a brand new f80 m3 it would be a e90 or e92 m3. The f80's quarter mile is quite simply a game changer (high 11s!!).

M2 won't be enough bang for the buck. The E92 M3 for so much less money is so much more car.

E92 M3 is a great car. I used to own one! But it was too big to be tossable, and just wait until you start paying for gas... 15-17 MPG isn't a pretty thing to live with.

The sticker price is just part of the ownership equation.

Cole, I keep reminding myself that the mileage for the e92 m3 would be an adjustment. I am spoiled with 29 mpg going driving to the Bay Area and 19-20 mpg in the city with my old 335i. This new addition would be my daily driver. I always wanted an m3, but I am torn on what I should do. I have always valued the opinions of others that have already been down this path. Those that have driven the M4 was the engine note bothersome or not an issue.

I averaged about 12 mpg. People would rank the sound of the m4 third out of the three. You can pick up a m4 for invoice plus discount. I think you should buy the m4.

Non issue, especially with CP. I'm not going to say it sounds anywhere as good as my E92, but it's nowhere as bad as people kept saying. I will say though the cold start didn't sound great on the base model.

Here's my take
E92. Got one, never selling, but also never used it as a DD due to gas mileage and replacement parts out of warranty. It's a super special car to me and you owe it to yourself to drive one. Still my personal favorite BMW
M4. Not interested, but will most likely get an F80 within a year (with CP). Swiss army knife, stupid fast
M2. My choice if I could only have 1 M car. Wish they made a 4 door version as that's what I wanted to add next.
