DINAN S2 BMW M2 - The Smoking Tire One Take

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com

Quote:
BMW's M2 is a connoisseur's favorite at the moment, mainly because it's the smallest and most engaging M-car of the current lineup. And when Matt drove one on track at Gingerman Raceway, he found it delightful at the circuit, but abusive on the street. DINAN has transformed the M2 by not only adding 100 HP and 100 lb/ft over stock, but also swapping out the suspension for more compliant coil-overs, improving both performance and ride quality. They've added big brakes, custom wheels, and some nice carbon touches to round out the whole package.

For some reason I couldn't get the sound to work so I went to YouTube. I feel SOOOOOO much better about my investment. Now if I could only get Dinan to forward the back ordered turbo before my first scheduled track event, I'd be ecstatic!

I am always hesitant about doing any aftermarket stuff but Dinan has a great reputation and is the only tuner i would trust. I ordered their Dinantronics sport tuner to dip my toes in the tuner world without going in too deep. I am mostly tempted to go with their coilover kit because my only complaint about my car is the ride is overly stiff for day to day driving on bumpy roads. It doesn't bother me much as I am used to it but my wife complains from time to time.

Haven't viewed yet but the quote on being bad on the street is not correct in my opinion. I'll take a look later.

Like I said in the other thread on this clip, it looks like the Matt Farah Bobblehead Doll is driving that car. Not the best advertisement for the coilover kit. That car does not look properly damped in that clip.

I also think that they look pretty generic. The OEM wheels are better looking

How much do you think that dinan install for the tune cost? $200 for labor plus the 1800 for the tune?

Nope. The "tune" is the Dinantronics unit, and that is part of the P2 kit. I spent just under $5 grand for the Dinantronics, the IC, the intake, and the big turbo. I didn't get the exhaust or the resonator delete--figured a Fabspeed DP was a better bang for buck on power.

The prices are all on Dinan's website.

Spent another $1770 for installation of it all.

BruceM- is it worth getting the p2 kit. Does it handle fine with out the coilovers, etc and can the brakes handle the increase of power?

For the street, sure. Have not had it out on a track yet. I've heard from the 2016 M2 drivers that with a set of proper track pads a typical "track day" at a local course will be no problem. I plan on confirming that when able

Again, for power I've spent under 7 grand for the Dinan P2 (w/o exhaust), another grand for a Fabspeed DP, and under $300 for a Pure inlet. That's about 8 grand-ish total, and in my view still within "reason," whatever that means, given the price of the car.

I could have gotten more power, for less money, at least initially. But I have another car I've already gone absolutely apeshit on in terms of mods, and so for me, on this car, this will be enough, and I'm happy to have done it. My previous DD was a Dinan e36 M3, so my Dinan M2 is its spiritual successor.
