I cannot confirm. But seeing that it is with the Competition. I will speculate and say there is a high probability.

BMW M2 CSL
For those of us that missed the BMW 1M Train. I think the next sensible choice for a grade A collector M car would be the M2 CSL. I just can’t pay 55k for a out of warrenty BMW with current financing rates with 40kms or more on the clock. All previous CSL models have held their value great. Plus, buying new you get warranty, more favourable financing options, all paperwork, and can select the options. If it’s coming in a 6 speed and if a 1 year run, I think it’s a no brainer given how the GT4, GT3, and other limited runs have turned out well.

If you still want a 1M (which it seems like reading your post); you will always want one....at current prices it's still a great deal. I would suggest getting one if you're still in love. It won't disappoint you. I bought my 1M to keep and drive for a long time. Warranty doesn't mean much when there is a plan to keep something long term...mine is permanently off the market.

Car manufacturers absolutely hate collector cars because they only make money once and if the price goes up (because of limited edition etc) then the manufacturers don't get a single penny - it's all the private parties that make money.
That's the reason why Porsche will release a new GT4 - because they can no longer make money on the old one. Same goes for M2, M2C and M2CS, CSL. 1M was a one off car and will probably never happen again, unless bmw decides to lose money. Also, if you are buying a collector cars for a fact that it will not depreciate then it's going to be the worst in terms of driving pleasure; you will constantly worry about raking up miles on the car and will eventually become a garage queen. Heck, even a garage queen car is worst in terms of return of investment - a decent index fund would yield much bettered returns. My suggestion would be to stop chasing the csl moniker - buy a used M2, drive it's titties off and learn to become a better driver in process. |

A work in progress Porsche 718 GT4 configurator went live accidentally in a European country with 981 GT4 pictures and colors but a 718 GT4 price.
The price on the new GT4 according to the configurator went from 89000 Euros to 108000 Euros. (Something I thought would never happen and it very well might not) It very well could be that the price that leaked on that partial configurator is incorrect but if not, BMW has a lot of room to price their CSL/GTS. Basically what I'm saying is: Go get an M2/Competition and start driving without waiting for these Halo cars. |

That's is what I do....drive my normal M2 everyday...all day as much as I can and don't give a crap about future value. Besides this; I invest my so called "collector cars" money in other non-car things. On the long run; this makes me more money and gives me more driving fun..without ever thinking "o no this is not good for the value of my car"

A lot hinges on what engine the 718 GT4 gets. If it’s a flat 6 turbo I’d imagine prices will be rock solid on the 981. If it gets a detuned GT3 4.0 or a full-fat GT3 engine then 981 owners might decide to chop in against the 718 and the OPC will happily sell you a used 981 when it tells you it hasn’t got a 718 allocation for you-so expect prices to still be strong. Win win for OPC and 981 owners. Unfortunately the Spyder sounds like it’s got a blower
