BMW Connected app update

I got an update for the BMW Connected app today which, among other things, adds smart home control and 'Remote Software Upgrade.'

The connectivity to SmartThings worked, but I'm not sure what can be done with it yet, and I don't see anything in the app or anything new in the car related to a remote software upgrade.

Anyone else done anything with the new app yet?

I can't see anything concerning remote software update . I got the new update around noon.

I got the update as well and read the notes about the OTA software update but don't see anywhere on the app how to do that

I couldn’t find anything about software updates either. Maybe its something you only see when there is one?

You find it here in the updated app. It only supports Things now. Sure would like to see Apple HomeKit support but TBH that should come from CarPlay. Big miss, Apple! Hmm... maybe Siri Shortcuts will fix this in iOS 12.

I did a software update via USB last week, so perhaps that's why I'm not seeing anything in the app about software updates. Though the wording in the app suggests it's a more comprehensive update than what you get with the USB updates.

However, the SmartThings integration allows me to turn on my printer from the car. This is the future I've been looking forward to.

How did you navigate to this smart things menu on idrive?

I thought the "OTA remote software upgrade" was only available for new models like the G01 X3 or G05 X5.

Could you please take a screenshot of the "remote software upgrade" option in Connected app?

Not sure if downunder will get the same treatment.

Recently I found "USB map updates" became booked (no expiry).

HomeKit is a fantastic product hamstrung by whoever is currently running the team. Lots of low hanging fruit they can add to dramatically improve app support. Nothing new in iOS 12. Review process is also a nightmare. So a lot of 3rd parties will put it in the too hard basket. Very frustrating.

After you set up the SmartThings integration in the Connected app on your phone, you open the Connected app in iDrive, and there will be a new menu item called Smart Home.

I can't find anything for a remote software upgrade in the app. It just mentioned it in the release notes for the update.

Open the app
Go to the Hub tab
Scroll down to Devices
Scroll right in Devices and it's at the end
The only offering is SmartThings

The SmartThings integration is there and easy to find. It's the other new stuff in the release notes that's not visible (to me, anyway).

Control My Home - This is the SmartThings integration, which shows up in the app and works.
My Car Is Born - Can't test this since I don't have a car in production.
Remote Software Upgrade - Don't see this anywhere in the app.
BMW Connected Drive Store - Don't see this anywhere in the app (and I do have a Connected+ subscription).

No, but I'm betting it's only going to be for vehicles that have the option in iDrive. I noticed this on the G20 post:
