I'm still a bit unsure over the 20" size because of all the bad experiences from several BMW M3/4 owners and I don't want to regret it. I know you have changed the suspension and the wheels after two days, but if I'm not mistaken you have used the standard wheels in the wintertime. Could you feel a difference between stock and the Vossen? To be more specific about my expectations: I don't want to track this car for at least a couple of years since I have a track-ready E92 M3 for that. That's why I want to keep some of the comforts in the M2 as a daily driver, but that being said, I prefer firm over floaty behavior. I found the E92 M3 way to soft for my taste. Thanks again, Ronald. |

In my opinion the difference between the Vossen and the original BMW 19 inch wheels is not so big. Short shocks are more noticeable. Maybe rhe tires can also make a difference. Instead of the Michelin tyres I mounted the Dunlop Sport Maxx. On the other hand, the M2 with the 20-inch Vossen gives in slightly more directly and has slightly less lateral inclination. The best thing would be if you could ride with someone who drives 20 inches on his M2. Maybe the other way around: If you regularly drive bad roads, then I would personally do without 20 inches, because with the series 19 inches the short shocks are already quite noticeable. regards Marko

I don't know anyone with an M2 let alone on 20". I do know Sport Max is softer then Pilot Sports as I have driven multiple versions of both. I already figured your choice for them was on purpose. One thing I haven't figured out yet is the "loch kreis for my car. I guess one should know which one is used for which brand?
Many thanks for your time. PS. Do you visit the Nordschleife once in a while? |

Nordschleife: I do not drive a race track with my M2. and if I was driving, I'd mount the 19-inch rims

Hi Marko,
Just to let you know I ordered the same Vossen set. I also ordered additional interior and exterior stuff to create a decent and classy build. I can post some pictures in another build thread if anyone is interested. Thanks again for your great pictures and inspiration! |

The ride is actually not that bad. I took Michelin PS4's, because my supplier suggested them and he's the expert. I'm happy with the way they ride. Seems more stable in a straight line compared to the stock conti's. The bmw mp coil-overs where not set correctly (ride was very bouncy) so I went to the best suspension guru in NL. After a few hours test-driving and adjusting we found the perfect mix for comfort and sport. It's just as comfy as stock now, but very stable and not bouncy at all. Maybe a little harsh on ridges, but not to bad. I'm very happy with the result since it looks even better in person compared to your beautiful and professional photos.

You have installed the BMW M-Performance suspension? How low is it compared to my M2? Which sizes did you choose for the tires?

Yes, I have the M performance coilovers. They are lowered 2.3 cm. A little more then the suggested 2 cm. More then 2.3 is not advisable because you'll be riding on your bumpstops which is never a good idea. Changing bumpstops could remedy this, but I'm not sure how much thread for lowering is left.
I guess the difference in height between our cars is no more then 1 cm. I did not measure it though. The tire sizes are exactly the same as yours, but I guess they could be one size wider. I have to be very careful now with these wheels since the protection strip (for lack of a better name) on the tires is flush with the wheel edge. I guess the slightest rubbing against anything will result in damage |

Indeed hard to tell. Looks about the same, perhaps your tires are a little wider but not much. Are yours still as new or did you get some scratches on it? I always manage to keep them as new for a year, but after that I always damage my wheels. Only upside is the edge is sticking out a bit so repairs can be done by shaving a bit of once or twice per wheel.

I'll do that. They get a coating on Wednesday. Should be well protected after that. The oem wheels are used in wintertime like yours.
BTW, have you ever considered a reflector delete on the rear bumper? Its a small thing, but with great effect. |
