Dinan Exhaust for M2C

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Updated with exhaust comparison video straight from Dinan:

Hey guys, I just watched this video of Matt Moreman of Obsessed Garage touring the joint Dinan and APR facility. Fast forward to about the 30:32 mark, and you will see an example of the Dinan exhaust for the M2C..

Moreman seems fairly impressed with it, but he never liked the stock sound on his F80. I'm not sure how some of you feel about Dinan but, I think it sounds really good.

Oh cool to see that it's coming along nicely, I saw a post from Dinan on the S55 subforum that they were developing an axle back for the car but wouldn't put any sort of timeline for when it would be available.

I think mashing together an AA single midpipe with a Dinan Axle back could be cool.

This is actually pretty good. I was about to write them off because they couldn't give a timeline for the exhaust. Sounds like they are close!

It’s really hard to tell if it’s a good sound or not, because the S55 doesn’t sound very good unless the engine is hot.

I wish these guys would run the car up to operating temp, then get out and record what it sounds like. The cold S55 is no good no matter what exhaust is on the car.

I just pulled the trigger on the full Active Autowerk exhaust for my M2C...we will see....the videos I've listened to so far sound fantastic and I desperately miss the deep roar of my 18' M2.

I emailed my contact at Dinan and he said they are still working on it. Right now it looks like it will be a midpipe and a separate rear section similar to the OG M2 exhaust. No ETA or price yet.

Nice find and thanks for sharing!

I unfollowed Mooreman recently on Youtube.

I dont think I can watch more than 1 min out of his videos. I fall asleep and I can never find the answer quickly to whatever the subject of his video is. He needs to get to the point faster.

I like Dinan exhausts. As much as I like my MPE, I almost wish I had went with the Dinan and the resonator delete. It's just less complicated, and less things to go wrong.

I don’t think any of them do. The S55 definitely needs to be hot before making a determination on the exhaust sound, IMO anyway.

Dinan has a better video on their Facebook, stock vs Dinan exhaust side by side. Also a video of them testing a flash tune on their dyno.

I've always liked Dinan exhausts. They save a little weight, look good and typically sound impressive. Shockingly, they are usually reasonably priced as well... not the norm for Dinan products.

That said, I like the stock sound; more so than the N55.

Me too. From what I've heard online so far, the AA has the least rasp and deepest tone.

Sounds like an incremental improvement which should improve as revs and load increase. Looks great as well.

Another view of the prototype #Dinan #F87 #M2C exhaust. The car is utterly transformed when the atrocious stock muffler (aka "the full diaper") is removed and a proper can is utilized. The over-sized 4" tips don't hurt the look either. And then there is the sound.. #BMW #M #DinanDifference

That's more than sufficient for me as I really like the sound of the stock exhaust I just need that fugly muffler gone and seems like Dinan checks all the boxes so far (still waiting on the price tag). It already sounds pretty decent IMO but I might just pair this with AA midpipe. AA signature, MPE + AA midpipe and Dinan + AA midpipe are my top contenders so far. I'm almost certain that MPE will be overpriced so I'll probably have to make a decision between AA signature and this.

It didn't sound much better in that one either to be honest. Really similar to stock in both sound and volume. The OG M2 dinan exhaust definitely made a larger impact over the stock exhaust than the M2C prototype.
