I purchased two spray cans of Plasti Dip—Black and Glossifier—and gave three parts the "treatment." As I recall, the cost was approximately $15 for the two cans.
I dipped the rear reflectors, rear M2 badge, and the chrome piece on the side grilles. The first two pieces I left on the car and protected the surrounding areas with Tape & Drape, but removed the chrome pieces on the side grilles, as they pop right off without any trouble. I am pleased with the results. Some of the benefits of this approach are that it (i) is easily reversible, (ii) is easy to redo if the results are less than satisfactory, (iii) protects the OEM parts, and (iii) saves nearly $400 over employing the IND parts. It was rather fun too.

Same as professor! I Plasti-dipped my rear reflectors and side markers. Was $4.98 total and a few hours of the day.
Reflectors turned out great. Side markers have some rough texture (despite 5+ attempts) but only noticeable if you get really close to stare. |

Thanks for snapping a few photos m2maniac, as now I do not have to take any of my work for MR_M2. For the record, my photos would look more or less the same as m2maniac's, save for my car being Alpine White.
My reflectors and M2 rear badge turned out great too, and like m2maniac, the silver piece on the side grill has a fine texture to it. I cannot see the texture, but if you rub your fingers across said piece, you can feel that it is not perfectly smooth. My experience with Plasti Dip suggests that over time, the coating will smooth out to some degree. Fun little modifications for sure.

I vinyl'd the side gills and the rear reflectors. Heavy duty outdoor-use vinyl cost $3.99 at Michaels.

Buying a cheap "cover" for the steering wheel from Ebay.
Really professional feel to product and excelent customer service. Got it custom just as I wanted it to. Was quite a lot of work to get it to fit really good and the stitching ok, but I´m very satisfied with the end result. I have pretty big hands so the added thickness suits me well, although it made fitment harder to do. Really suggest to take the steering wheel off the car to do the work. Also really like the bigger carbon fibre paddles, but dont fit in the cheap section I guess Last edited by Rondavouz; 07-18-2018 at 03:54 AM.. |

Fold up and saturate a paper towel in rubbing (iso) alcohol. Place it on the decal and leave it there for about 10 minutes rewetting as it evaporates. After that the decals come right off. This even worked on my M3 and those stickers had been on there maybe 7 years before I removed them (it WAS easier on the M2). oh, and iso alcohol comes in different strengths. Read the bottle. Stronger = better. And yep, it's a cheap mod......well worthwhile.
