Cayman GT4 or M2 CS?
Does anyone know when the 718 Cayman GT4 and the M2 CS will be revealed? Release date? Price? Looking to spend about $100K. Also, will the Cayman GT4 have the PDK transmission? Looking at these options and base Carrera as next car.

Unknown at this point when either will be revealed, but for sure I agree the M2 CS will be cheaper and easier to obtain than a GT4. Not sure the GT4 will fit under the $100k price cap though, but I'll certainly be interested if it happens to be available with manual & without the giant wing, not unlike a GT3 Touring.
Also waiting for info on base Carrera & the T (with manual) but after seeing the massive increase in both weight and price of the 992 S models, I'm getting turned off. Also don't like subsidizing the PDK by paying same price for manual & I'm hoping the rumor is not true that the Sport Chrono pkg will be mandatory with a 992 manual (tho it's possible the new T will be like the current one in having the basic 'guts' of the Chrono pkg without the ugly clock on top the dash).

The new upcoming GT4 will be a hot ticket if it gets the GT3 4.0 and 9,000 redline.
You will not see them under $120K. They will be markups on top of that and even if you are willing to pay that, allocation will be difficult for the first year. The GT4 with a proper GT motor would be the ultimate Porsche car to have. I would chose it over a GT3 RS.

Daily or weekends?
Daily: M2CS Weekends: GT4 The M2CS will be much cheaper but the GT4 has better resale if the car mileage is low. If you drive it a lot go for the CS as you won't lose as much money. |

RPM- I think your second idea of a Carrera is what I would go for. There are 2018 with 2500 miles under 90k. For the money your not going to top a Carrera.

Really looking forward to seeing specs and pricing of the new GT4 vs the 992 Carrera T (as well as the M2 CS), as these are cars I can consider in a couple years when my M2 is paid off. I'd skip both and grab a 991 GT3 if it were feasible for me. In the meantime, enjoying my M2 and can't imagine getting rid of it, so I need to figure out how to make room for one last additional toy before the stick shift takes its last breath, followed by the ICE.

The car will be my daily. Looks like the M2 CS as it seems like it will be easier to obtain and definitely cheaper. Not looking to go beyond $100K with the adjustments, options, etc.

The 718 GT4 will have a 4L NA engine, though not the GT3 one. The GT4 will have cheaper internals. A GT3 engine alone is far too expensive for a GT4.
It will for sure not exceed 8K RPM, also on sound it will be more dull than the 981 version because of the now obligated GPF. I still have hope it will arrive with PDK, but nowhere any conformation on that. |

M2C is a better daily car. lot of room, seats for 4 or even 5, good size trunk, and better ride quality than a Porsche. Obviously GT4 is a better sports car if that's what you are looking for. but everyone knows M2C makes a good case of saving money and still have hell of a car.

The ride quality of the GT4 beats it by a mile though, there is no competition. Have taken mine on very long road trips and rallies with zero discomfort. It’s one thing that actually blew me away about it since I had no expectations. For dollar value between the two, I still think the M2 platform wins but don’t kid yourself. The Porsche has far superior handling and dynamics. It’s a different league.

Geneva 2019 it wil be clear what the specs are all about. Some insiders on PH have following information; - 4L 6F NA (although not the GT3 internals as I mentioned) - 420HP - 6MT (PDK optional the 1 million dollar question, nobody knows) - Sounds les crispy/racy than the 981, due to GPF - Rear wing has small wingtip changes - Rims also slightly different I received an email from my OPC on the 2019 agenda, sept 2019 the 718 GT will have dealer presentation. What can we expect; -March 2019 Geneva world wide presentation 718 GT4/Spyder -September 2019 dealer presentation -Riding the car 4th quarter 2019, maybe 1st quarter 2020 FWIW, based on al information I have Not to forget; January 3th 2019 the 718 GT4 Clubversion will be officially launched by Porsche ! |

Also hope the US model sheds the GPF and - getting greedy here - I hope the GT4 can be had with a Touring pkg that removes the big wing. If all that works out then, finally, I hope to make a deal with the devil to obtain one of them!

Even if there's an M2 CS, I don't think I'll splurge too much on an M2 (or even M3/M4). I think the M2C already addresses most of the things lacking in the OG M2, at least for me.
As for the Cayman GT4, same thing, not sure if I'd spend too much on a 718 platform. I do already have a 991.2 GT3. Still super expensive especially where I'm from and I couldn't choose the options (like M/T) since I got it at a decent deal used. Both an M2 CS and Cayman GT4 will probably be great cars but at least with the Cayman, what I've noticed is that its a stop gap for most people I know as they eventually go for a 911 later on (and sometimes much sooner). |

A lot of you guys don't have this to consider but I went with an M2 over a Cayman because of the little rear seats. That way I always have the option of bringing one of my kids along for a ride, to car events etc.
Granted the older one can ride up front but I have one yo twins so yeah - need to throw one of them in the back.

For fun, if you had the choice of buying both cars what transmission would you get for either?
Me it would be: M2C stick GT4 PDK
