How does it start in the cold with ethanol? I know my STI, EVO, and FRS struggled to start anytime the temperature outside was cold.

I’ve had my cold start turned off for a while just to keep noise levels down for my neighbors, and I had been having to hit the start button twice with the high Emix to get the car going.

We moved to a larger house (vs townhomes with connected garages) so I turned cold start back on a couple weeks ago and no more issues. There’s enough fuel request from the higher cold start RPMs that the car fires up no problem even with E50 at <30F.

Bonus is my start ups are less smelly now that my 300-cell HJS heats up much more quickly.

That's good to know the m2 is better, my cars have always struggled on e85. Maybe this was due to the weak starters and small batteries.

ZM2.. Well the e85 is not the issue. This stuttering thing only happens on full throttle on stage2 plus map.. all others are fine..

Thinking it might be a map issue.

When I ease into full throttle on this map it's seems ok.
when trying to do a 3rd or 4th gear quick full throttle data log is when the stuttering starts..
This is driving me nuts

DSC is off
I'll try and get a log tomorrow. Since I have ease into full throttle, it may not be the best
I'll get a log of regular stage2 e30 as well.
Thanks alot

Yeah, let’s see a log with the issue and we can help diagnose.

Plenty of guys running the map without issue, so maybe we’ll uncover a certain plug or coil problem, HPFP issue, etc. Many smart guys here with good eyes that can take a look.

Did you make any other changes to the car when you installed the HPFP, or any other recent changes?

Its 73 and rainy (tampa area)now so I can't really get any logs in today. Its seems the lack of e85 was the culprit. Ill log this weekend and post. Thanks again
Great to hear!

Your previous mix was E21-24 which is way too low for this map. It's labeled E30, but just as JKen_0115 said, even E30 seems low in the logs and guys are having the best results E45-55.
To reiterate what ZM2 said, I was a beta tester and was told to use E30 at minimum but to shoot closer to E35. I believe the actual map that was released is a little spicier, so I would recommend E40.

Do you recall what the gap was before?

0.020 is too tight for this setup. Just ask F87source and he can point you to prior plug/plug gap discussion.

I was close to that gap and had issues, went back up to 0.026 and issues went away.

Dang it... too late. But that was exactly the problem! Thanks ZM2 for all your help.
Absolutely Zero stuttering. Just hard to believe just a simple plug change made all difference

Well, glad it fixed it!

If it reappears as you start pushing the car harder, think about opening the gap back up, and maybe even put some fresh coils on for the heck of it.

Traction is definitely an issue with this map!

Buy your plugs from FCP Euro next time. Less than half the price and lifetime warranty—I’ve already traded in a “free” set.

Also, if you get some dyno, 100-200, or 1/4mi times, be sure to post them up!

Yeah I always recommend starting at the stock gap size then moving down if misfires persist and are not due to HPFP crashes, coil failures etc. This way you don't have to jump around to a bunch of different gap sizes in search of misfires and stuttering.

Remember you always want the largest possible gap size to ensure complete combustion. That doesn't mean always stick with a large gap no matter what, sometimes you don't have a choice and have to gap down because your coils might be weaker or you might be making enough power to blow out the spark. That is why you always have to read your plugs and look at logs and make an informed decision on gap size.

stock plugs are also fine up to 700 whp, no need to go to a colder heat range for no reason.
