Talking *NEW PRODUCT* MAD Intercooler & Charge Pipe W/ Install Video

In this video, the stock intercooler and FTP charge pipe were replaced by the MAD FMIC 5" & CP

Upgrade from your stock intercooler to the MAD stepped core intercooler for maximum performance and reliability!

The stock BMW intercooler is small, inefficient, and cannot keep up with the high boost that your tuned car targets. MAD BMW 5” intercooler will keep the intake air temperature in check, allowing your BMW to perform at its best at all times.

The MAD F chassis BMW 5” intercooler uses a high fin density core for maximum cooling. It also features a stepped core design to maximize the cooling area. Weighing 22lbs only with dimensions of 21"x8.5"x5", It provides the perfect cooling solution for stage 1 applications.

This intercooler is compatible with stock and aftermarket charge pipes.

Features:
  • Direct stock replacement, no cutting required
  • High-quality stepped core
  • Lifetime warranty on defects and fitment
  • Spot on fitment
  • Fits rear-wheel-drive & X-drive models

Fitment:
  • M135
  • 228
  • M235
  • M2
  • F chassis 328
  • F chassis 335
  • 428
  • 435

SKU:
MAD-010

Upgrade from the stock BMW N55 charge pipe to the MAD N55 charge pipe for maximum airflow and reliability!

The stock BMW N55 charge pipe is plastic and prone to failure. It's only a matter of time before the charge pipe to break. The MAD N55 charge pipe is a strong aluminum piece; it will provide better airflow and won't fail, and fits like stock.

The MAD charge pipe retains the BMW C-clip and O-ring for the best fitment. Do not forget to move them from the stock charge pipe to the MAD option.

The MAD charge pipe comes with two meth bungs; both bungs are sealed. If you do not intend to use methanol injection, keep them closed.

Features:
  • Better airflow
  • More robust material (aluminum vs. plastic)
  • Two meth bungs
  • Lifetime warranty on defects and fitment
  • Spot on fitment

Fitment:

Fits Rear-wheel drive vehicles only.
  • 2012-2015 135i
  • 2014-2016 M235
  • 2016-2018 M2
  • 2012-2015 335i
  • 2014-2016 435i

SKU:
MAD-017

Is the intercooler similar in the way Wagner makes theirs ⁉️

The charge pipe is nicely done ‼️

The dimensions are very similar but it's not the exact same intercooler

I'm very impressed with the quality/fitment of the intercooler and charge pipe

With the Wagner EVO 2 Comp being the go-to for most guys, what does this intercooler offer that's better? Seems it's 3 lbs heavier as well, no?

EVO 2 Comp, in my opinion, is the most balanced intercooler. One of the best on the market. It's also very expensive.

If customers are willing to pay that price, they should, by all means, choose the Wagner.

The MAD is not better in my opinion but offers great value for the price.

Solid performance, spot-on fitment, and lifetime warranty.

Most customers that do not track their cars are choosing the more budget-friendly intercoolers vs the more expensive ones.
they target different audiences

Oh look, another intercooler thread.

On sheer volume alone, this intercooler would outperform anything on IAT reduction that isn’t VRSF Race and Wagner Evo 3.

No word on fin density, which is likely inferior to those two options.

I’m still waiting for reviews on how it drives.

MAD street intercoolers have a balanced fin density. Their race/ larger intercoolers have a higher fin density.

The reason for that is smaller coolers are not meant for crazy HP power, the higher fin density has negative aspects including added weight, slower recovery time, and can cause higher pressure airdrop.

With high HP applications, the higher fins become a necessity since keeping temps in check requires more work the higher the boost. For these customers and especially the ones with an upgraded turbo we recommend the MAD 7" stepped intercooler instead

MAD N55 charge pipe vs FTP
(nothing was wrong with FTP, we replaced it with MAD because we wanted to confirm fitment on the car that's all)

I am currently running a VRSF catless downpipe and chargepipe with a BM3 stage 1 tune. What would you recommend size wise for intercooler for going stage 2? Seems like the 7" race is more geared towards upgraded turbos and might have some downsides otherwise? Thanks.

the 7" will outperform the 5" on stage 2 even with the stock turbo, but if this is a daily driver that not being pushed on a regular basis and/or tracked, the 5" will do the job.

Either one is a major improvement over stock and both are compatible with any stage 2 map

I do not have any yet, but I plan on taking some in the summer once the business is slower and I have time for side projects.

I wonder if this project can be done with rhino ramps instead of jack stands? Should have enough space to remove intercooler correct?
