Generically, from my own experience, tyres will stay stronger for longer so at the start lap times deltas may start 1-2s range but towards the end of a day long session on same tyres, deltas will be larger.

I have just passed 75 track days with my OG M2, approx. 30 days with MPC on. First, no issues at all to report, car is still super solid. Did have one of the comp dials come off the front when adjusting once, luckily I have it.
From my personal experience, I would say the MPC are worth about 1 - 1.5 seconds a lap. That time saving is not a given, requires all things, conditions, etc. being in place in to put that time down. Most will not see any difference in speed by driving the car 7/10th's at the track. The OEM suspension is that great! I have tested the comp and rebound a good bit. I set the suspension based on the track I will be driving on, of course. Generally around the recommend "track settings" range. Two or three clicks two out from max comp for the smoothest tracks. For street driving, a few clicks more of rebound seems to make for a little smoother all-around ride as well.

Noting that BMW (and the manufacturer) make much of how the valving means high speed damping (cats eyes, pot holes, rumble strips) is unaffected by the slow speed compression and rebound settings, the stock settings work. I run 2 clicks softer on both and on both ends as it means it moves about a bit at license friendly speeds.
BeePee had his properly set up though, so would be worth asking. |

Can the mperformance coilovers be port installed? Or is it dealership installed after the car arrives?

The set comes with the street settings dialed in out of the box, also included in the manual. Those work just fine 99% of the time for a street driven car.

Confirmed my CA was not able to find this as a port installed option.

I'm not going to install myself but my dealer wants $2000 for labor. Is a warranty from a dealer install worth it? Whats the worst that can happen if a 3rd party installs?

Not worth it!!! My SA said that claims on the MPS are ultra rare. $800 is the average install cost.

So I've achieved the whole thing for £2,050... This is in the UK and parts from BMW Germany but just to indicate the savings that can be achieved over RRP. |

I had a local guy that agreed to do my install for $400, but I thought hell, why not do it myself and spend the $400 on tools to have forever, so I went that route. I'd say it worked out ok, but I'm still not happy with some of the process, as NONE of the videos or threads explain every detail exactly. I'm so OCD, I should have made my own, but I didn't.

They worked, but I still don't think I was able to get things torqued correctly. Even broke a tool trying to get it there.
If I were to do it again I'd contact a BMW dealership that has much experience installing the MPS and literally buy the exact tools they use. The rest of the job is cake, it's just the strut tops that are the issue. The pass-through sockets worked fine on the end-links, zero issue there. I'm getting the feeling my dealer wants more than 500 miles on the machine before they will install... kind of odd. Calling them tomorrow to talk to their techs. Would love to DIY but Echo's experience keeps me from getting any crazy ideas. |

1) Leaking rear left shock 2) Leaking rear right shock 3) Adjuster wheel missing (unfortunately for me, nowhere to be found). I now tape my adjuster wheels when doing anything involving high heat So overall I'm extremely happy that I had it installed by the dealership for the warranty. I suspect that the rear shocks leaked because I ran too high rebound/compression settings on the street for the first year or two - when I commuted a lot for work, I drove on some really shitty streets. Now that I've softened everything up, hopefully I won't have any more issues for a while. That being said, if you bought it from KW or some other brand, they will have their own warranty in place that probably wouldn't require you to install it at the dealership (just at a reputable shop), but it wouldn't cover re-install costs I'm sure. |

Also agree with this - install is quite easy. I don't think you even need a spring compressor. Just take the old one out and put the new ones in. When I swapped my camber plates, I just dropped the front shocks down - after disconnecting the sway bar links - and swap over the plates. The top nuts really do suck though lol.

After a testdrive of the M2C with MPC nicely provided by a fellow member of this forum last Saturday, I am ordering the MPC for my car today.
We drove both cars on poor pavement and I didn’t see any problems with the car with MPC in terms of comfort. P.S. X233, thanks a lot for the tesdrive! |
