My suggestion...link it to the redundant "M Button" so when you press it, you get a sport+ mode that stops the blip!.

johanva thanks for the info and your videos.

Tip: add your videos to the first post (video 1, video 2, video 3 and video 4).

How is the readability of the M2 LCI instrument cluster with the headlights switched off ? One of your videos seems to show that the backlight of the instrument cluster is permanently switched on, as soon as you activate the car. Correct ? Does the instrument cluster light up stronger in darker lighting conditions (for example when going through a tunnel) ?

Gear shifter of the pre-LCI 6MT M2 has no light. On the gearshifter of your M2 LCI a video shows the shift pattern: is your gearshifter lit or is that just the effect of the white 'waterfall ambient lighting' ?

Name: M2_LCI_Gearshifter1.png
Views: 3868
Size: 37.2 KB

Some quick tips (pre-LCI M2):
  • Changing the 'waterfall ambient lighting' color (ambient light radiating down from the roof near the rear view mirror):
iDrive: "Settings" | "Lights" | "Ambient" | choose "Classic" (amber/orange) or "Sport" (white)
  • Changing brightness:
iDrive: "Settings" | "Control display" | "Brightness" | adjust the controller
  • Activate/deactivate the 'Shift Point Indicator' (ideal timing for each gear change for lowest fuel consumption):
iDrive: "Settings" | "Instrument Cluster" | (un)tick "Shift point indicator"
  • Avoiding the 'SPORT' message from 'disturbing' your SATNAV screen each time you push the 'SPORT' button:
iDrive: "Settings" | "Control display" | untick "Driving mode info"
  • Avoiding automatic start/stop:
push the button above the start/stop button (button light on = deactivated)
  • Achieving the lowest possible fuel consumption:
    Sell the car

Shape of your headlights: the pre-LCI coronas or the hexagonal coronas ?

In fact, it was rumored that only the M2 LCI with adaptive LED's get the hexagonal coronas, instead of all M2 LCI.

I don't have the driving mode option button? Annoying as. Thought this was an easy fix!

It's always on and I didn't notice any difference in the brightness of the cluster when going through a tunnel.

It's not lit but indeed just the effect of the waterfall ambient lighting.

Can't find that option. I think my car has a new version of iDrive and therefor the menu's are different. I looked like crazy in the menu's but can't find anything to turn it off :-(

Too bad you have to press that button every time you start the car.

That is not going to happen very fast :-)

If you like, you can PM me to meet somewhere so you can see all the differences yourself.

The pre-LCI coronas (which I like more and another reason (for me) not to choose the adaptive LED's).

The North American cars keep it as the last setting, I've only pressed mine once, the day I picked up the car. You can program yours to have the same behavior. I highly recommend Bimmercode for coding, easy to use and cost effective.

Thanks for confirming that the non adaptive LED headlights still have the full corona rings.Do you have any exterior pics of the headlights and tail lights of your car?

It can be coded to be off by default every time you start the car.

You need software and a OBD adapter to do it.

Bimmercode and a V-Link OBD adapter is whats needed to do this.

You can also code various other items with Bimmercode and the V-Link.

In the "old" E82/E92 you can do that by pressing and holding the BC button for at least 3 seconds... maybe it'll work on this newer model also

Non-M F22 LCI dash needles are white.
It was certainly a bugbear of mine at the time with the gauges but great to see it's been sorted...

But now comparing side by side I think I like the m240 cluster better...

Even the picture that BMW Canada shows in the MY18 M2 ordering guide has the piano black trim but in the description it says new interior trim with chrome application.

I love that is says : Adapative LED is highly recommended for "the aggressive styling"... not that it well help you see better at night

I had LED headlight on my F30 LCI and I was disappointed by the unnatural color and strong shadow producing source from the LEDs... Much prefer Xenons, but too bad they are not efficient and expensive...

Regardless of the design shape, Adaptive Headlights and High Beam Assist will definitely help you to see better at night.

Have you removed the US coding? (i.e., have you removed the anti-dazzle "decoding")

That ain't me in any of those videos. But I think I understand what you mean.

BMW promotes High Beam Assist as being dazzle-free, though got already tapped on its fingers for its claim that "oncoming traffic is never dazzled and you can keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road": https://www.motoringresearch.com/car...ist-technology

No, I just didn't notice your location because I was on mobile. Sorry.

In the USA, this feature is disabled.

The black trim is so much nicer then the chrome around the carbon insert. I don't like that chrome piece.
