Official Ferric Grey 437M thread.

I know I'm not the only one with these wheels on the M2. Post 'em up!

This is a test shot from tonight.

Yesir! unfortunately my photography level isn't anywhere near yours, so my photos may look dreadful in comparison.

Ferric looks better on your car than on mine though, and your tires are definitely more fantastic!

I got the winter wheels ceramic coated, and finally got a dry day today to swap them in the driveway.

I may be in the minority, but I think the Ferric Grey 437Ms are what should have come on the M2 from the factory from the beginning.

Hell yes, I agree with you. I still have my FG 437s, they are my dedicated track wheels so I can get some awesome in motion pictures with them on.

Me too, I don't like black wheels but that's just my preference.

I wonder if Ferric touch up paint will be close enough to the caliper color... hmm. The caliper paint code is unknown.

It's not even close. I've had both Ferric Grey's that BMW makes, and they aren't anything like the 2NH Anthracite. One is lighter, the other is darker.

Hi guys, I have the standard black and machined face M2 437M wheels, I've decided to have them refurbished and repainted in ferric grey.
Does anyone know if there is a paint code or information that I can give the painter to match the correct colour? Secondly, I have never seen ferric grey wheels in person. Can someone confirm they are machine faced like the original M2 wheels? And the ferric grey colour is exactly where the black would otherwise be on the stock, black M2 wheel? Cheers!

There is no external paint code for Ferric Grey. You'll find 2 BMW codes for it, I and II, but they are vehicle paint codes and have nothing to do with the wheels, and certainly won't match. The Ferric Grey on the 437M is a custom color produced internally by SAI.

Yes, they are painted/machined in the same areas, except the clearcoat is actually clear, not tinted like on the Jet Black 437M.

It's hard to tell from this picture, but the machined areas are identical.

Not for the wheels. There is no external (available) paint code for the wheels.

That’s not true unfortunately. 437M is made by Fuchs, not SAI, and Ferric Grey II B55 is a dedicated wheel paint used by BMW on other wheels they have made such as 436M. Good chance that B55 matches.

I stand corrected, kinda'.

B55 will not match the 437M, I've had it, and literally painted it on my wheel and it wasn't anywhere close. Apparently it was used on the 436M, but it won't match the 437.

Porsche makes a color that's closer, but it's still off, so depending on how particular someone is...
