A little off topic but the people with the raceseng shift knobs, did any of you have an issue getting the shift boot to go down the raceseng adapter?

Does it make the pedal action stiffer?

Appreciate the feedback!
The UCP is lower at the top so you won't have to lift your leg as high

The clutch also engages closer to the floor

The pedal has 3 spring positions to adjust stiffness

The first is supposed to be about the same as stock

The second is stiffer than stock and the third is stiffest

I am currently using the second (middle) position

It definitely improved the softer pedal I experienced when I changed to the E90 clutch slave cylinder to get rid of the clutch delay valve

YMMV

Yes, i had to open up the plastic ring in the shift boot with a 20mm drill bit by hand.

Took about 10 minutes.

I used a drill with a cutting bit to do most of the work then a half round file by hand to finish so I didn’t overdo it. I found removing just the beveled part of the oem plastic (as you look from inside the boot) leaves a hole size that is a perfect tight fit on the Raceseng adaptor, the boot will stay up against the knob base without using the cable tie.

Hello guys, i am about to order my autosolutions ssk, but can't decide what reduciton to go for. I decided for stock height and 80a+ bushing. But don't want t have too short throw. I am watching youtube videos, but can't decide. Will 25% be too short, and feeling like I havent engaged the gear all the way?
Thank you very much.

You'll "feel" the gears engage no worries about being unsure of gear engagement.

25% will be harder to move than 20% of course as the leverage will be less.

I went for 20% but 10mm shorter which equates to about 23%, certainly no issues with shirt force or feel.

This is really down to personal preference unfortunately, so it's hard to say what I consider too short of a throw to be in line with what you consider to be too short of a throw.

With that being said, I went stock height, 80a+, 20% reduction on the F22 CF M Perf knob and it feels perfect to me. Possibly anymore reduction in throw would be a bit too much for my taste.

I would recommend 20%. I initially had 25% and the 1-2 shift was notchy in particular, with quick shifts I was worried about letting the clutch out before fully engaging gear. On track was OK because you don’t do 1-2 shifts but it hindered daily driving. Ron was great and I exchanged the shift lever to a 20% one, the extra throw was hardly noticeable but the reduced effort was dramatic, shifts really smooth in comparison, you can confidently go as fast as you can physically get that clutch to the floor & back

I'm at stock height and 25% with a 1.75 lb Raceseng Shift knob.

Easily moves between gears ...

Depends on what you want out of the SSK.

If it's shorter throw and you don't drive aggressive all the time or track often then go with 20%. If you drive aggressive often and track then you might like 25% more.
I went with 15% because I was mainly interested in eliminating the stock rubbery feeling and wanted slightly shorter throw. I'm very pleased with the result.

Whatever you decide, note that the stock shift knob will likely make noise due to it being plastic and when fitted over the Autosolutions shifter, which is slightly smaller in diameter than stock, results in weird resonance. I bought a raceseng shift knob and all the noise is gone.

Good luck with your decision. I'm sure you'll enjoy it no matter what you decide.

I just installed my autosolution short shifter kit on my m2 competition.

-20% reduction
-Oem height
-80A + Bushing (red bushing)

one word AMAZING…

i love driving manual, most of my sport car were 6 speeds and 3 pedals since you simply get more feeling while driving, it's involving and installing a short shifter is always a great way to improve the feeling.

Had a
-B&m short shifter on my 996 turbo
-oem 330d ssk on my e46 m3
-neuspeed ssk on my audi a4 b6 wagon
-Autosolution ssk on my f80 m3
-autosolution SSK on my 2019 m2 competition.

Autosolution Short shifter are amazing, they are built with very tight tolerances and the precision of the shifter is absolutely amazing. i loved it in my f80 m3 and it's the reason why it's my first mods on the m2c.

my m2c is pretty much brand new, only 4000 km so the oem shifter is at it's best, but still rubbery feeling, throw is ok, overall it's not bad and drive great but the autosolution is the kind of modification that will make you smile, it's a great drivers mod for a great drivers car.

20% reduction: to me it's perfect, with the autosolution, the shorter throw is nice but it's really how tight the shifter become that will make you smile, it's really bolt action rifle style, very direct and mechanical. It's easy to shift, not notchy and very engaging while driving. you cannot make a mistake with the 20% reduction, you will be happy with the throw and feeling.

oem height: for me it's perfect, i have the oem knob and have nothing to complain, perfect height.

Bushing 80A+ (the softest autosolution offer but still harder than oem) : absolutely zero added noise. very very tight and precise shifter, I did not replace bushing on the f80 m3 and the shifter was amazing but with the 80A+ bushing on the m2c, it's one step better. the bushing are totally worth it. In my mind, the 80a+ bushing are the way to go for a street driven car, they offer rigidity without adding NVH. there is absolutely no reason to go with harder bushing except for a race car where you absolutely dont care about the NVH.

Installation: the shop and mechanic that did my autosolution SSK in my f80 m3 did it in 2.5 hours. The same shop and mechanic did my autosolution SSK in my m2c in 3 hours. He told me it's not a simple job, he had to remove exhaust, one side of driveshaft to acces the bracket under the car to replace the bushings. It can be done DIY, but at least on a lift and if you have great mechanical skills and tools, unless that i dont think it's a DIY.

Sorry for the long post, tried to answer every aspects of this modification.

10/10 for this modification, really worth it.

next mod is replacing the Clutch slave to remove the cdv, already ordered a clutch slave from a e92 m3. Still waiting to receive it.

Just did the cdv delete last week. I enjoy that mod almost as much as the Autosolutions SSK.

Takes all the vagary out of the clutch engagement. Makes me feel way more connected to the car and adds to the enjoyment of driving the MT.

For those of you who went shorter than stock--

Why?

Was it for a different shift knob, or ergonometrics?

I'm sold on the SSK (I had one on my e46 M3), but still sort of mulling the height. Not sure how to decide on that one, so I'm interested in anyone's thought processes.

TIA.

R.

I guess slight differences in the bushing tolerances of the shifter (I learnt Ronald hand assembles each one) and transmission could result in different outcomes, my 25% had literally zero play and felt tight, getting into reverse required the most effort (RHD your pushing it left) so much so my BMW dealer test driver took 3 attempts to engage reverse as he wasn't ready for the effort required. My 20% has 1-2mm of play and is a lot easier to shift.
Communicating with Ronald when going from 25 to 20% shifter he said there was a fine line between minimising free play and becoming too tight, and what person A likes person B doesn't.

Are there any differences other than the CDV? I'd be concerned the slave cylinder is different other than only the restrictor. I suppose if the pedal feels ok and the clutch disengages there's no issue, though.
