HELP me pls 2020 m2c or 2018 m2 lci
I Just got 10% off on a brand new 2020, would take 2 months to get though.
But I'm torn. Test drove both obvious which one I like better but can I let this deal slide? 5k miles 2018 m2 $49,700 msrp, like the rims better, like the brakes, like the look better, single turbo SOUNDS WAY better, has installed m pedals, more comfortable pleasing ride. And I have to mention again the sound is WAYY better. 0 miles 2020 m2 competition $57,000 msrp, Like racing seats but uncomfortable, bit too stiff. Car seemed to heat up fast. Planning to take car clean and put Very few miles on it, Sunday car. Making decision maybe even tomorrow. Pls help bimmerpost friends . |

10% off a brand new 2020? How? No one on here who isn't an employee or part of Special Military Sales is getting anywhere near that.
If that discount is anywhere near true, get that it's a no brainer. What do you mean heated up fast? Cooling is world class on either car.

And yes after the test drive the car was warm, not too warm but nothing like that happened to the 18. Sound and Ride is what's killing me. |

Just get the M2. Sounds like you are into the sound a lot and you don't even talk about the power which is the main incentive on the Competition. Also you'll save a few bucks.

I'm thinking 50 horsepower isn't much these days when electric cars are just going to crush* any gas engine car accelerating. |

I have met others who love the OG M2 and just didn't connect with the M2C. It's all about what emotions a car gives you. Sounds like you love the OG M2 so go with it.

Went through a similar dilemma a few months ago and chose a very low mileage LCI over the M2C. I am super happy with the decision and after an ISTEP update last week, even happier!
It's not always about taking advantage of a good deal. You need to enjoy what you're driving too. They're both great cars but it sounds like you'll enjoy driving the 2018 more than the Comp. Just negotiate a few more dollars off of the listed price and enjoy it! |

OP... If you just read what you wrote and how you wrote it, the answer seems pretty obvious.

- Exhaust note - Colour, Mineral Grey - Price, was 20% less than the M2C - preferred the N55, car felt more alive - did not like the sound of the M2C - Sound and burbles of the stock OG M2 is addictive - Exhaust note - Exhaust note - likely to be less depreciation |

OP, in your original post you did not list a single thing with the M2C that you liked better than the 2018 except the seats.
I'm not sure what "Planning to take car clean" means.

OP... Everyone has their own opinions, of which some hold very strongly.
Trying to sway people into one direction or another, is only going to make us give you advice on what it seems you already prefer. Those who think the M2C is a superior car are always going to tell you it's worth the extra money. Those who prefer the OG will always tell you to save the money since it's a "no brainer". Both are obviously great cars. I have no experience with the M2C but there are numerous threads discussing the pros and cons of each. Not to mention the many journalist articles doing the same. In the end, you're the one who has to live with the car and the expense. I don't think you'd regret going either way.

I had planned to keep my 2017 M2 like others still have their E30M3....BUT...I was made an offer I could not refuse and I'm trading it for a 2020 M2C.
Really hope that everyone who whined about the M2 seats not being real M seats actually bought a M2C! Obsolete upgrades with the M2
Seems like a lot of negatives but I'm still doing it. EDIT: Oh, if you're really getting 10% off the M2C then...YES...it's a no brainer. Better decide before someone snipes the M2C from you. Last edited by omasou; 04-24-2019 at 09:07 AM.. |

Sounds like you want the 2018 M2. I had an opportunity to buy a 2019 M2C and passed. Unless you plan on tracking the car, there is very little difference in the cars. The M2C is a better track car but it sounds like you don’t plan on tracking your car.
If the M2 doesn’t have the M Performance exhaust, you should add it. Makes the sound way better. You will also want to get rid of ASD in either car. |

The M2C does have an improved suspension and steering setup and if you're planning to tune then the S55 will be a better choice in that regard. Both are great cars in different ways and you should buy the one that provides you a wider smile and for me it was the OG! |

Lastly does anyone on this thread believe-> direction which future cars seem to be heading towards set up wise, emission rules and a bunch of other obstacles. That this N55 engine almost naturally aspirated Sound will be a pretty rare thing in the future? Good long term depreciation? (I plan on having this car with little miles for long time) |

You should drive them both, consider the M2C changes and of course the exhaust note that many are conveniently obsessed about. I would say to consider value rather than price, meaning warranty, year model etc. However if you really are going to keep the car until the wheels fall off then initial price rules from a $ point of view. Then again if you are keeping the car for a very long time any extra money that you spend on a car that you really want divided over so many years becomes less important.
Disclaimer: Many people are biased towards the car that they already own. Make up your own mind. Last edited by AlpsRider; 04-24-2019 at 11:03 AM.. |
