I do full Xpel ultimate. No need for a pattern. My guy does a full panel wraps from bulk roles so there are no edge lines. Will use a pattern for the lower panels and bumper. As soon as Xpel sees a car they will have a pattern the same day.

My local shop is using 3m and he says he has a template when I asked for a quote. I think he made an honest mistake and was assuming I meant an m235i.

That's a good deal for a true custom cut install.

CC Quartz for a grand is pretty silly really, you can do similar products yourself. I am having Protective Film Solutions do the bumper cover, backs of mirrors and headlights for my car. I cannot stand seams on hoods so I am either going to take my chances or get the entire hood done. My guy is doing expel on those areas for $525. Also having him do all windows in 3M Crystalline, it doesn't come in dark shades but is blocks heat like nothing else. For anyone in AZ I really suggest Protective Film, they do all of the high end cars in the area, they did my wife's accord next to a Porsche 918 Spyder, it was kind of a funny contrast.

I can always see the seam, I am a bit OCD but I can always see them. Less on some colors though.

I have to ask, where are you picking up your car from that you have a 1,500 mile drive home? Obviously not the Performance Center!

I am picking my car up from a dealer that is a solid hour away...I might sink to doing track film from XPEL as a temporary solution.
I have an HEA car sitting at the port so I'm hopeful that I'll get my car on/around 4/16. I have been talking to XPEL for over a month and, currently, my car will be the car from which the template is made. That's, of course, pending delivery as expected and that I am willing to part with the car for at least a week.

This is a quote from one of my emails:

I spoke with our design team, and it sounds like yours will be the first they’ll get to lay hands on. Please allow us 7-10 business days to install on your car; typically we need 5-7 for install only, but we’ll need it a couple extra for design to complete their work before we can start.

You would think they could get a template done from the shit ton of cars they had at Laguna seca. Or any of the prefomance centers

Having been to SEMA a couple of times I think a lot of us don't understand the hundreds of companies (small and big) that make aftermarket items, if BMW allowed one to get access they would pretty much have to let them all have access. What most manufactures do is set up special deals for access to cars for accessory manufacturers that they have a relationship with and then everyone else waits. I don't think BMW does that because they have their own line.

Is there any ETA on XPEL?

I'll have to look into XPEL Track film once I get it home....
Hell, Im in the same boat as you. Picking up my M2 16 April and have to drive 1000 elm to get it home.
I have bought some 3M Blue painters tape that won't leave the glue behind when you take it off.

It is a little expensive but will be worth it. I have also mosquito gauze to place over the air intakes.

Never considered the intakes, but that sounds like a great option!

Ohhhh Sema...just paid my $5000 booth deposit 7 months early so they don't remove my seniority and stick me back in the Chinese hall. They are not fun to deal with.

I have a simple solution, I'm just going to wait till everybody comes out with products for the M2 and then get one. This way they also work out all the kinks.
And if you really can't wait just ask your dealer to please leave all the plastics on that it ships with. If I remember they cover a good area of the front end. They don't like to do this but if you ask I don't see why they won't.

I am picking my car up in San Diego and live in AZ, fortunately my guys at Protective Film Solutions recently opened a shop in SD so that is a relief. I was not looking forward to almost 700 miles and crossing a significant portion of that in the desert, blue painters tape or not. I know at least one guy that did euro delivery found a local shop in Germany to do his front end before he took it out for his Euro jaunt.

I thought I was OCD about my car. You guys are unreal. If the products aren't available, I'll just drive it and enjoy life. With that said, I'm getting XPEL full front clip after seeing the front of my current car after 3 years (sand blasted). But I'm also not getting an HEA car.

Is the headlight UV protective coating durable enough to withstand film removal in the future? I'm wondering if the film adhesive is strong enough to take some of that coating with it upon removal.

There was a little bit of residue but came off no problem with a little cleaner.

I'm picking up the car in TX and driving back to NC. I'll be documenting along the way and should have something nice to put together when I get home.

A quartz coating will suffice for me. (1350€ yet)

That's what I thought also when the man sent me his offer.
And that's what I'll do, let repaint if necessary.

Can't repaint a car for $2,300. You have to be kidding. It costs almost a grand to have a bumper cover repainted. Having said that the likelihood of having to repaint an entire car is extremely low. I am just getting my bumper cover and headlights done, I live in an environment that is really hard on bumper covers (lots of sand and whatnot on the roads) so it is worth it. My E90's front bumper is pretty beat up from the conditions (the car has 209,000 miles though) I don't want that to happen to my M2.
