Ceramic Coating 763 Matte black rims

I have a set of new matte black 763M's coming in without tires and was wondering if they are worth ceramic coating (figured now would be the best time). The spokes should make them easier to clean than the standard 788's but I wanted to ask you guys if you had them done and if so, did they make the matte finish slightly more "glossy"?
Also, can anyone recommend what product they used and the best tutorial?
I've heard good things about Gyeon.

It's absolutely worth it to ceramic coat them, and no, most ceramic coatings will not add any gloss to the finish.

Just remember to let the ceramic coat cure for 2 weeks before you get them wet or mount them, if you want the ceramic to adhere properly.

This is what I used on mine.

I had the 763s on my car from new, and they did the wheels off the car (but tires on the wheels) ceramic coating when they did the whole car.

Here's my verdict:

1) same glossiness as before ceramic.

2) the brake dust still collects on the wheel and it doesn't simply spray/rinse off - still have to wipe it off with soap and water. But it does come off pretty easy with a sponge. No scrubbing necessary - just wipes off with very little pressure

3) the 763s are pretty easy to clean except where there is almost no clearance between the caliper and the wheel barrel. 10mins to touch them up to where it looks good from 5 ft away.

My "good enough from 5 ft picture:"

Did you only follow the directions supplied on the kit? Do you think there would be any harm to apply the coating and then mount them a couple days later without driving?

Yes, coat the wheels 100% and wait until fully cured!!!

The problem is the brake dust. If it were a spoiler or something similar I'd say that you could just let it sit for 48 hours, and then if it got wet just wipe it off immediately. But since it's wheels, you really need to wait as long as you can before you mount them because of the corrosive brake dust. The brake dust will get EMBEDDED in the ceramic coat, and once it's cured, you'd have to sand it to get it off.

I mounted mine 4 days after I ceramic coated them, but I have Akebono pads, and I don't drive the car much. They seem no worse for wear that I can tell, but I think it's down to the 4 days I waited, and the specific pad dust.

I'm not sure I agree with the poster that putting gloss ceramic on matte wheels doesn't affect the appearance, when you can just as easily buy the right matte ceramic coating for the wheels. Check out Dr Beasley products.

I'm not as big a fan of ceramic coating rims as I used to be. Yes for sure they are easier to clean, but two things I noticed with the few cars I have done this with:
- you still need to go through the process of agitation (albeit easier), so not sure of the huge benefit there if the work and time still goes into it
- like all coatings, efficacy goes down over time and even with premium products, I found that after 6 months it felt like there was no protection. So you have to go through "boosting" the ceramic with a different product, etc...
I would say I am 60/40 against ceramic coating for the wheels, but 90/10 for doing it on my paint

After some research it seems that the proper care is important to keep the coating at its best. I'm leaning towards not coating as of now :

I had both my stock "black" 788Ms and my matte black 763Ms coated by my detailer

He used Modesta BC-06 Heat Resistant Glass Coating

This particular product made the 788Ms a little more glossy, whereas with the 763Ms it did not

So far, the coating has held up pretty well for me and has made cleaning the wheels easier

Around 2000 miles and 1 track day on my 788Ms

Around 7000 miles and 7 track days on my 763Ms

Anyhow, just another reference point

The people against ceramic coating probably aren't ticking all the boxes.

1. Quality product.
2. Proper prep, application, cure, and care.
3. It's not a cure-all, it just makes the SAME cleaning, easier.

Do these things and win, do them not and be dissatisfied with ceramic coating.

Modesta BC-06 is a glass coating not a ceramic. It's what I have on my wheels and so far I've been very happy with it.

I just used Kamikaze Stance wheel coating on gloss black wheels and was very impressed by it. Both how it goes on, and the finished product. I hope it lasts as long as expected.

I previously coated a set of satin HRE wheels with another product and it did not affect the sheen.

I used my "go to" ceramic product, whale-gizz and it made them just a bit glossier but who cares, it's whale gizz!

Just google whale gizz and you'll see all the testimonies. Love this stuff

Nice looking! I believe the OP was asking about the Matte wheels which are M Performance. Yours look like the Jet Black from a CS.

That said, I literally just coated my new set this weekend. I have done every set of wheels I've owned and it is completely worth it.

I use a pressure washer on the wheels and the come really clean easily. There was zero addition of gloss but a slight addition of richness maybe?

Prep, application, and good lighting are critical, especially with darker colored wheels. My DIY cost about $75 and was made easier since wheels are brand new.

I had my OEM wheels and my APEX wheels coated by a professional. Wasn't too much and the wheels are super easy to clean now even after 4 track days. It's honestly held up longer than I expected. Don't think the coating added any gloss though. If I had to do it again I totally would.

I just noticed your 763M comes with the new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 DT Connect! that's awesome.

Mine came with the newer style cup 2 DT tread pattern DT (Different Tread) but the non connect variant.

It is pretty cool, though I can't justify the $400 for the sensors. But I still want them.

I used CarPros DLUX.
2 coats.
I can pressure wash 90% of the brake dust off for that "good enough" look as the wheels will get dirty in 50km anyway...also I spray P&S brake dust remover after initial rinse then wash off. So basically 3 steps to clean the wheels without having to bend over.
