Front left tire always warmer?

I have this nagging issue with the temp sensor. For some reason the temperature of the front left tire is always about 5-7 degrees than the other tires. Cold temperature read seems consistent with the other tires, meaning all tires read same temp out of the garage.

Has anyone else observed this? Is there a reason why there should be more heat transfer from the left side of the engine to the tire? This is not related to sun exposure either. This happened on a cloudy, wet day (today).

Appreciate your thoughts and observations.

Thanks.

It's common and I wouldn't worry about it

i believe it's because of the oil cooler that's located on that side

Interesting. Thanks for pointing me to the thread. Would not have guessed the cooler transfers so much heat to the tire. Though it was all the right hand turns I was making!

At 57 degrees Celsius (134 Fahrenheit) in the evening cool down lap, mines are just a bit warmer , but similar layout (even though I always suspected the Nordschleife track configuration to be the more obvious reason here)

I guess my concern is about the potential imbalance this creates on track. I found a snapshot from this past late October, with air temperatures in low 60s ... and tire pressure off by 2 psi and significantly higher temp in the FL tire. This after a 20 minute session and setting fronts and rears to 31 psi cold.

Must be a track with more right hand turns, so you’re loading up the left side of the car. I would start the left front at 29 and left rear at 30 for that track.

Had this under normal driving on my m235i, F80 M3, and my LCI M2. Wouldn't worry.

I like to drive my car (6MT) in the Alps and Dolomites. It's one of my hobbies.

Spirited drive on the 'Col de Turini' in the French Alps on a warm Summer day (75°C = 167°F | 3.2bar = 46psi) (my usual tire pressure at sea level for cold tires: 2.5bar = 36psi):

It’s not the oil cooler but the auxiliary radiator.
That wheel is hotter for me too, both by touch and by the sensor.
It’s more obvious here in Singapore in the stop and go traffic and the heat.

Good for you, driving the Nring in a manual sports car is my hobby because racing it - is not. Don't mind skiing either in the Alpes or Dolomites though.

p.s. there is a huge difference between track tyres and UHP tyres for a very good reason.

My front left is hotter too. I always wondered why that is. Now when its colder it is a bit less extensive than when its hotter outside.
