Crooked seats in the M2?!
"The seats are wonderfully supportive, though the driver’s seat is not centered behind the steering wheel. In fact, it’s also not aimed straight ahead. With the driver seated inboard of the wheel, BMW angled the seat — and especially the seatback — toward the left-front corner of the car. It’s a cheap trick, and one that only perfectionists would notice. BMW should still be catering to perfectionists."
Wtf? Anyone else notice this comment or able to verify? Havent seen any mention of it in other reviews so far. Link http://www.motortrend.com/news/2016-...t-test-review/ |

I saw that. I also noted the statement in other reviews that these were euro spec pre production cars with manual seats...so who knows. Read a LOT of other reviews, and don't recall any others that mentioned it.

I've sat in an M2 & although brief didn't notice anything peculiar with the seat positioning. Seemed fine to me - I'd also imagine it would be the same as a 2 series.

I noticed this in all the 2 series cars I've sat in. I think you just get used to it after a few minutes. The driving position didn't feel squared up with the rest of the car. I felt like the pedals needed to move right a few inches.

Offset pedals has always been a packaging problem with many cars, but a seat that points outwards? Never heard of it. We have a M135i which presumably would be the same but I've never noticed this!

I doubt the seat is in the car crooked. To me it felt more the throttle pedal was a few inches left (on a US CAR) of where it should be. When sitting square back in the seat it seemed like my leg wasn't straight to the gas pedal. This might cause people to twist a little to the left giving the impression that the seat is crooked. I think the problem is a transmission tunnel that has crowed the pedal box.
Maybe lots of newer BMWs are like this. After driving a few around it didn't bother me, but the first impression when sitting in a 2 series was that something was off for me. Can someone with an M235 see if their leg goes straight out naturally, or if they have to manipulate things a little. |

I have an M235i and can confirm that the seat is not quite square with the chassis.
It is kinda weird---for some reason it causes me to feel much more confident taking left hand turns that right hand turns. |

Are you sure it's not just you twisting a little to compensate for the pedal location? |

I've never owned a BMW, so this could be why I picked it up and other BWM guys didn't even notice. I really doubt the seats are twisted to the left though.

I have noticed uncentered seats in multiple BMWs to differing degree. I'm not sure if it's a model to model thing, or if it's a car to car QC thing. It's kinda disappointing.
