I found that setting your iPhone to not automatically join wifi networks and going full airplane mode (with wifi on obviously) works best for maintaining a connection to the icar adapter. iPhone (with iOS 11 dev beta installed) kept on disconnecting from the adapter (because no internet I assume) and searching for greener pastures.
The hell would have happened if it did something like that mid coding? |

I tried to code mirror fold-on-lock on my MY18 today and it doesn’t seem to have done anything. Connected the adapter, read the ECU, navigated to the right section, set the option active, and coded. Locking the car has no effect on the mirrors. I know the coding happened as there was a “reset” type effect when the coding completed (dinging and radio off/on).
I haven’t tried to code any other options yet. I’m being a bit cautious until I know things are working right. What am I missing?

Is there an updated excel sheet with the updates by the creator? I think the last excel sheet I downloaded didn't things such as the seat moving back before entering, seatbelt sound off, etc. Correct me if wrong please, thanks!

I just received a request to fill out a survey re my experience!....this will be interesting. what could i possibly say...
"ill never be back because you ask too many questions!" "NOT CODER FRIENDLY" lol But in all seriousness, my take-away from all this is that this visit could have gone so much better...had they just been cool about the whole thing and politely warned me about making modifications to the car etc (even though i would not consider what i did a MOD)....instead i felt like i was being called into the principals office...you know that sickening feeling you would get in your gut cause you knew you were in hot water...just seemed very hostile from the get-go. You would think i had just committed a serious crime. I just dont get this kind of attitude. Warranty work = money in their pocket. Now im not suggesting that they simply turn the other way no matter the situation since they have a reputation to protect with HQ but geez, be real with me, advise me, TREAT ME LIKE A CUSTOMER! But too bad for them...no second chances here. Thanks all for your opinions and recommendations.. |

They blamed faulty coding for my battery issue....That certain systems dont shut down properly as a result..therefore a constant, slow drain on my battery even with car turned off. |

Take your car to a reputable European shop and pay for the diagnosis. Then you'll know for sure. |

lol. if your car was hooked up at all to ISTA+ FASTA data is collected and sent automatically. If you were to be flagged it would have been flagged already. Dealer is blowing smoke, avoid them tho. They can still "manually" flag you if the foreman is enough of an asshole.

I think we need to make an important distinction here as to what type of coding though.
You could get flagged if you modified the code in the car. This can be things like a tune, changes to make it work with aftermarket parts like deleting CELs, etc. You will not get flagged by turning on/off features already existing in the BMW software with something like Bimmercode non-expert mode. You make only selections and adjustments on what?s already there. Heck, there?s even dealers out there who will code the mirror close function for you since pretty much every brand out there now does this. |
