EAS Memorial Sale Loophole
So, I saw EAS is doing a 10% off memorial sale on for everything on their site. Discount code: memorial10
So I started browsing their site and saw they have gift cards available, and that the gift cards are 10% off as well. Which means you can buy a $1000 gift card for $900. After receiving the gift card code emailed to you, you can then make another order for parts using the 10% discount code, and use your already discounted gift card to purchase them. So say you buy a $1000 gift card and $1000 worth of parts. What you end up with after this is $1000 worth of parts + $100 remaining gift card balance = for a price of $900 Otherwise, if you don't do this. You just end up with $1000 worth of parts for $900. So you make off with an additional $100 gift card doing it this way for free. This can be scaled up or down depending on the amount/value of gift cards you purchase. I'm not taking advantage of this, because there is nothing I'm interested in buying right now. But I figured I'd share what I found. One potential problem comes in this note on the gift card page Note: If gift card is purchased on a business day between Monday-Thursday, it will be processed within 24 hours. You will receive an email with the gift card code, and an available balance. That makes it seem like you won't get your gift card emailed to you until Monday. But that shouldn't be a problem because their memorial day sale ends Monday 11:59pm aka 2:59am Tuesday. |

Good info.
I can't remember if the EAS prices are as terrible as those at IND, but it's worth a look for sure. |

I also emailed ecs about it. So we'll see. Even if they stop it from happening now. Nothing is stopping someone from buying gift cards today, then using them at their next sale.
Only way for them to fix it is to remove gift card from being able to use the promo. |

My guess is it will get rejected during their "processing time", which by no means sounds automated since they mentioned business hours. They may see you paid less than $X for an $X GC, and probably manually cancel your order. My guess anyway, most places I've seen don't ever let this get all the way through. To those trying, best of luck on a hot deal otherwise.

Just tried it out to see if it actually works. During the checkout, I see that they also charge for tax even for the gift card purchase.
So let's say you buy a $2500 gift card with the 10% off, you will still be paying $2424. Then you would have to pay tax again when you actually buy the product that you want. |
