Mine is in today for the amp fault. One day it works, the next it doesn't and when it goes wrong the noise is deafening, if some of the speakers haven't blown it will be a miracle. I had the boot apart and there is no water in the boot but there are signs of water spots on the amp. I have had PPF fitted but I do also jet wash into the arches as I live in a rural area. So maybe it's the jet washing forcing water through the vent but I've never had a car you can't thoroughly clean before! It's a terrible design.

AMp Issue

Scheduled service today for my Amp to be replaced. Sound cuts out frequently. No window tinting or pressure washing done.

Mine was swapped out due to 'a faulty vent seal' letting water in. I think that's just an excuse. It's the fundamental design of where the vent is that's the problem. If it had a cowel to stop the water getting near the amp we wouldn't be talking about this...or move the amp location.

Im just waiting for one of these dealer to say, 'Your ASD bypass harness the culprit. Warranty claim DENIED!!!!!!'

If this should ever happen to me, I pity the SA who dares say that.

I pulled the fuse to get it to stop, otherwise there was no way of driving the car to the dealer.

Dealer plugged it back in and said nothing was wrong (go figure), they also updated iDrive/reset everything. So far it has been fine (I swear I hear the odd crackle though).

I am waiting for the day it starts again and scares the shit out of me again.

The only plus of all this, is that the update fixes the backup camera beeping. Now when you put the car into back into drive the beeping stops (no need to pull forward, stop to car, no switch mod needed)
Which fuse did you pull?

Well, I guess you can add my car to this list. My amp did exactly the same thing. I have no tint in case anyone asks. Brought it into the dealership and they said the amp is toast. It was hot as hell. This also explains why I recently started to smell burnt capacitor after I parked my car on the drivers side (left). The amp is coming in from Germany and will take 3-4 weeks for it to arrive. In the meantime I keep hearing some light cracklings here and there. The big cracks and pops are done I guess.

I think I pulled fuse 159 to shut off the whole system for a few days. It was beautiful.

There's a recall on this; I noticed on my receipt they have a "recall" alternative amplifier cap.

Obviously it's letting water in & frying the amplifiers, terrible really!

Yes there is a cover for the fix of the amplifier. Once mine was replaced they added a cover as the PCB is exposed in that area. What a smart design!

Is the amp covered in the standard 4 yr/50k mile warranty?
