This post (video) is long overdue and I apologize for not posting this sooner. This short video was taken just shortly after it was decided that there was a valvetronic failure.

Pretty common issue nothing major imo. Generally I see these things fail once in a cars life time. Either really early due to what I would believe to be excessive wear during break in. Maybe due to the oil squirter spraying oil with alot of metal from break in onto the valvetronic motor worm gear causing wear.
Then in high mileage cars just as general wear and tear.

I was worried my 2+ MhD tune stressed it out as that was done five days prior to failure. The more I read though the more I think it was just a freak thing.
Esp as my garage said they didn't really think would be tune related plus it was internally shorted or something to that effect! Stock BMW map is so smooth though ofc, quite liking it again. |
