A couple of laps from Pacific Raceways in Kent, WA. This was my first time at this track in the M2 and the last I was here was 20 months ago in my TT RS. It's certainly not a track I frequent so it feels like I spend most of the day re-learning nuances of corners. This was from the 7th and last session of the day, it was a dry/wet/dry kinda day and my quickest lap was a 1:33.6. Pretty pleased with my drag racing skillz though and hit 151mph before braking for T2.

Thoughts on the square setup? It looked like you were managing the rear end a bit actively, or maybe just the video.

New PB at NJMP Thunderbolt yesterday 1:29.67! I've been working with a driver's coach on the subtle nuances of the turn-in phase-- absolutely revolutionary stuff! I am flying now, I feel like a superhero lol

Had my "best" in the M2 this past weekend at Mid-Ohio. Rain led to dry track late in the day. I had only one lap to really push.

1:40.5. Made a couple mistakes, easily a 1:38 in it.

Yes, this lap could have been better, a little rough at moments. Although, I was pushing, of course.

The square setup certainly offers more grip in the front, that is noticeable right away. The rear steers much faster. I feel the square setup requires more precise driving in order to keep the rear under control, which is a good thing. Offers more precise control and makes for rotating the car easier. Lastly, if you want to run slicks, this is pretty much your best all-around option.

Also, a full tank of gas is pretty much required. I believe I set this lap with 3/4 tank. You need that extra bit of weight for balance. Very fun setup, I recommend for learning. Certainly the way to go if racing is in your future as well - from a learning perspective.

This experience leads me to believe that the best setup for street tires would be 18 x 10 in the front and 19 x 10.5 in the rear. That would be awesome!

My PB so far at CTMP is still at 1:39.3, although I wasn't tracking times for a while since Harry's + Dual GPS was too buggy, RaceChrono has been much more reliable so far.

Stock OG, with Hankook RS4 265 square on 18" Apex FL-05, PFC08s, and around -2.7/-2.2 camber.

Why street tires need to run staggered setup vs slick on square? Is that only on cost saving point of view?
Nice lap Joe, I'm Xing! Haha

It's why I went with a square setup so I can rotate tires and also the biggest for me was availability + types of tires I could run.

Or 18x10.5 setup with a larger tire - 285 or 295.

I run 18x10 275 takeoffs and as you can imagine don't have any issues with rear grip.

Thanks! Goofed it up in a few areas. I highly recommend coming out here. Well worth the drive.

We had torrential downpours all morning so the track was a little dusty from all the runoff. More excuses but with a few more hot sessions I have no doubt it would've been very fast!

In short, you definitely have more tire options with a square 18 x 10 setup. The cost is certainly better as well.

A couple of laps from Thunderhill Raceway this past weekend. It was the regular (east?) 3-mile course with T5 (cyclone). I was running Hankook RS4 tires on days 4 & 5 in 245/40/18 front and 265/40/18 rear. I don't do this track often enough (once a year) so there is still a lot of opportunity to pick up time. I reckon at least another 2 seconds.

Track Addict with an external GPS recorded the fastest lap as a 2:07.00 vs my Go Pro and Race Technology analysis software. I exported the data files from each into Circuit Tools and the two were closer. I went with the Go Pro times as it was closer to the averages I was running.
