I picked up a screw on my right rear PSS (with 400 miles). According to the Michelin owners manual, Discount Tire (who performed the repair per recommended procedures) and a TireRack blog, the original speed rating on the tire is maintained.

I have an HPDE in December and want to avoid surprises. Anyone know whether a repaired tire can be a reason to fail inspection? Or are they only looking for sufficient tire thread?

I wouldn't think it would fall any inspection unless someone was being ultra thorough and having a shitty day.

If patched properly, tire removed and patched from the inside, it should be fine.

Found this in NASA's rule book on HPDEs:

"11.4.2 Wheels and Tires
The general condition of the tire and rim assembly must be good. There should be no cracks or other damage to the wheel. There should not be cords exposed, bubbles, or other visible damage on the tire."

Looks to me like repairs are ok.

You’ll be fine. No one looks that close.

No one will look that close but I wouldn't track on a repaired tire personally especially if it wasn't plugged and patched from the inside.
