C8 review that includes personal comparison to c7, m2, m3, m4, GT4

I thought the last line was of interest, but not surprising.

It reads like a review written by a buyer who just recently bought his shiny new car, essentially ranking the C8 first in everything except the sound quality (still ranked 2nd).

Over-enthusiastic gushing tbh, but hey, at least he's happy with the purchase.

I can’t wait to do my own review. Who knows when I’ll receive mine at this point but surviving is more important than a car.

I know this is subjective... but am I the only that thinks this car is really ugly?

100% agree.

But maybe the feeling will continue. In either case, good for him.

I don't think it's ugly, except for the wheels/brakes/side being too big. But I do think it's waaaay too Acura-ish for a Corvette.

I don’t love how it looks, but if it had had a manual option, it would’ve been a tough decision between it and the M2c. I like the practicality of the M2 and it’s playfulness. But it’s hard to argue with pure all out speed.

Read through it, I'm sure its a great car but he is definitely still in the honeymoon phase, especially when he said the transmission is better than a PDK to which many have reviewed and said is not at that level. I haven't driven one yet so I can't fully judge it, however based on many high-level journalists who I trust the opinion of it seems that its a bit softer/numb dynamically than the C7 it replaced.

Squarish steering wheel, I don't get it
Hate it actually even if it has a purpose!

It does look awkward, although I guess the gauge cluster is fully visible because of the shape, unlike that of the 992 911.

I'd take any 911 over C8 anyday

That was said of early pre-production models(more dialed in understeer) but most reviewers that have driven the production version have said that it is dynamically better than the C7 Z51 Package. It also set better lap times on all the track tests that have been done.

That's good to know, as most early reviews critiqued the understeer and numb steering. I've never been a Corvette guy so will likely not get one anyways (and no manual doesn't help) but it is definitely an undeniable value for what it is.

It's "sporty". Everyone critiqued past generations of the vette for having the same steering wheel as an Impala, which had the same wheel as a Trail Blazer etc, so they fixed it. Now the vette gets a square wheel. Should we still refer to it as a wheel?

In those pictures by the Corvette Forum reviewer, yes, those were not complimentary at all.

As a former C7 owner, I can agree that the ride in these things is impressively comfortable, although the road noise in the C7 was pretty bad, albeit not as bad as in the M2. So if they quieted down the C8, that's a good thing.

I of course, will not own one because it's missing a pedal.

Easier ingress/egress I suppose.

My Audi S5 had one. It never noticed it.

Couple things to point out here.

718 GT4 just beat the C8 in a head to head. They also said the 718 GT4 was full of soul, precision, and emotion whereas they say the C8 sold its soul.

And clearly he’s comparing the C8 to a 5 year old 981 GT4 and the new one is on a different level.

I personally dislike the rather mish mashed styling of the C8 and the interior quality from what I keep reading is as would be expected for the price with bad stitching, panel gaps and paint quality. It’s a bargain for the price but it just doesn’t tickle my fancy.

Totally agree about the Acura NSX look being too much. Also don't care for the Camaro-like rear (tail lights). I did see it last weekend in a light blue and it definitely helped. I personally prefer the C7 exterior over the C8. Interior is a different story.

I think it takes me a while to warm up to new designs, in general. But there are some, like the C6 Z06, that just get it right IMO. Too bad about the interior on all those cars 😔.

I pulled my order and bought a 991.2 Targa 4 GTS so won’t be doing a C8 review for some time.
