bootmod3: Map Switching (DEMO) - Advanced End User/Tuning Features

Hey guys,
Wanted to share a quick demo of an upcoming new feature for bootmod3 called map switching. In this demo it is running on a 2015 BMW M3 with the MEVD17.2.G DME, S55 motor.

This enables users with bootmod3 to flash once but be able to switch between maps in the car without any other flashing. Custom BM3 maps can be created with current 4 entirely independent maps embedded into one with separated settings for load/torque/boost, ignition timing, fueling, knock sensitivity, iDrive gauges and burble.

Map 1: 0.1 BAR of boost (1.5psi ) - Valet map
Map 2: E30 OTS map
Map 3: 1.8 BAR (26psi) 12 degree timing
Map 4: 2.2 BAR (32psi) 18 degree timing with WMI

At the moment, under the covers over 30 calibration tables and the logic driving them have been exposed to enable this level of configurability, with more coming..

Soon, we're releasing a demo of rolling antilag as well as flex fuel integration using flex sensor integration over the canbus.

All the best, cheers

This is so good. Wonder what happens when I take my car into the dealer and they find this monstrosity with a FASTA scan

Looking forward to it!

Would be cool if FASTA dump was a smiley face in ASCII or something.

Kinda like a pit-speed limiter.

For this usage, I would assume its used to maintain boost pressure at lower speeds for less turbo lag on rolling starts.

It's launch control but for when you're already moving. So say you're driving 60mph down the highway. You activate anti-lag, floor the gas, and it will raise the RPM to a desired level. Let off a button and it launches at that rpm.

It's dangerous though, if you've never done it before. Don't know how much the wheels will spin or if the car will veer off to one side. So take your time learning how the car handles with it. Start off at maybe 10mph then work up to 20, 30, 40, etc. At least that's how I'd do it, cause I never experienced it before. Cause unexpected spinning at high speeds is scary when you're not used to it.

I was asking myself that and assumed it wouldn't because they usually post about updates related to the N55 in the N55 section too.

But then I found the answer by looking through their post history. They posted in the F30 N55 section and said.

"DME on the N55 is virtually the same and we're looking to port the features over to the N55 as soon as its finalized on the S55."

I've all but given up on expecting them to address this. Seems BMW have them defeated unfortunately. Last response I got from PTF was that basically it's not possible and there is no ETA on a fix. I take that as 'not coming'.

Unfortunately this has been their statement since they became aware of the 'issue'. The hope was they'd find a way to bypass the OBD encryption to allow (as before) flashing over OBD. Despite their statement of "we're working on it", it's been over 18 months and still nothing. Seems this statement is now 'final'.

I found a tuner shop here that unlocked my DME for $200....surely you guys in the UK have the same. I don't see the big deal. Waiting on PTF or anyone to crack it may be a loooooooooooong wait, so just get it bench unlocked, and be on your way.

Can we please keep the unlocking dialog in the other thread that's specific to BM3 for S55, and keep this thread specific for the new features.
