I'm still deciding on HS or MB. I change my mind every second day.

I finally saw another HS M2c on the road the other day. I've seen them in every other colour but HS. It looked sensational. He was behind me swapping lanes for a good 10-15 minutes. This was just after I has "decided" on MB. It's funny how you stare at your own car all the time but never really see how it looks on the road. So this was an eye opener. Like a new context that made me love the colour all over again.

One thing I do know is that no way in hell will I be getting those gold wheels. 🤮

Jeez. I just read on the AU forum that some guy picked up a brand new M2C for AUS 92k / USD 58k. I guess this covid thing is having an effect.

As set as I am on the MB with gold wheels, I have to admit the murdered out CS with the CCB's is damned hot.

I guess that most dealerships will be cautious: only order an M2 CS if they got a signed order or if they want to keep the car for themselves (showroom car).

The gold wheels IMO look even better under those direct sunlight shots as it appears they are far more faded than the strong yellowish tone the fluorescent lights in showrooms seem to (falsely relative to real-world) accentuate.

All this 'hate' about them here is kinda funny. If you were to just hope over to the Porsche boards you'll see majority of ppl have been going gaga over the - mind you a USD $13K option - gold magnesium wheels on the GT3/2 RS...

Wouldn't it just then be cheaper - a lot cheaper - to get the calipers painted? I mean, that is all BMW (or their supplier) does.

Thinking the same for me. MB and red brakes for sure...just deciding on black or gold wheels.

I just can't do the CCB's knowing I will track the car regularly. Too much pain in the ass, risk, and limiting of my options.

Not sure what kind of 'deal' you got, but $8K for CCB versus $80 for paint job is near impossible to beat if you think they just 'look nice.'

Sort of, you have to do some serious high temp powder coat to get it to last if you will track or anything, which is doable, and you are right a lot cheaper in the end. But pulling apart the brakes, having the car down for a few weeks, rebuilding the entire assemblies after, etc. Not totally simple to do right. If the powdercoater screws up on of the assemblies, not cheap either (if you can't get them to take liability which can be tougher to prove than you'd hope). So while "cheaper", not cheap.

Didnt knew that subaru bought the trademarks and the patent of a " blue car with gold wheels " should always be called subaru Sure iconic for the STI , but a lot manufacturers use gold/bronze wheels on cars .

Yes . . . do you think the dealer just decided to give up $7K, or whatever translates to the Euro CCB option cost? Nah, you paid for those gold calipers one way or another.

Anyway, we could go back and forth all day and not get anywhere. You said you like the way the gold calipers look compared to the red calipers. Great. I was simply stating there are a lot cheaper and 100% equally effective ways to get the ‘look’ you are after.

I think my number is $5k or less for the CCB option. If they could discount the CCB option to that level I'd probably check the box. But, if it were just a discount off the car, I'd probably take the standard brakes with the discount. It's more about what I'm getting for the money than the amount of money.

I don't like the yellow calipers with gold wheels as much as I like the red calipers with gold wheels, which is making it even more difficult to select CCB.

It will also come down to driving reviews. If the reviews come out as OMG the CS feels completely different on the street (in a good way) with CCB, then I'll most likely get them. If it comes out that you can only really tell on the track, then I won't. Improved street driving feel, plus less wheel cleaning is a win.

If the CS was primarily developed with the standard brakes, then I suspect that the weight savings of the CCB will be marginal. This development would also be why I would likely resist throwing in a lightweight battery. Shedding 40lbs on one corner of the vehicle would absolutely impact handling at speed since its at the outer edge of rotational center and likely change the moment of inertia. Folks modding an M2C can offset this with adjustable coilovers and corner balancing.

Edit: Just get a license plate M2 STI
