Who doesn't want manual seats? I mean we've become so obsessed with technology and gizmos that we would rather wait for several seconds to adjust the seat forward instead of just pulling a lever and doing it instantly. Nonsense!

do the manual versions of the seats have all the same controls?

like i really like the side bolster adjustment on my m-sport seats, which shoudl basically be the same ones the m2 would get.

probably not as relevant, but i'd still point out. if you get power seats, you get seat memory. and if you ever have people sit behind you in a m2 (i even adjust my seat forward in a 328, if someone is behind me) its pretty convenient to just hit the button and have it go back to your ideal setup, instead of having to adjust it by hand.

i mean, small things, but power seats are not the worst thing ever.

Adjustable side bolsters are standard with sport seats. Lumbar support is optional on manual & electric sport seats.

I don't mind memory seats. Actually, adjusting the manual seats is kind of a PITA, but I hate that memory seats don't go as low as manual.

yeah they also weigh more.

i think the 1m in the US could be ordered with manual seats. and the 228 has them, so there really isnt any reason they couldnt offer them... just they probably want to limit the options just like the colors / wheels...

Manual seats with adjustable side bolsters, lumbar and (optional) heat would be fantastic! I really hope they offer the capability to option this in the US... but I will be a bit surprised if they actually do.

Agree, manual seats save weight but go lower. My current M235i with electric seats sits too high. Nobody ever sits in the back and the wife's only setting difference to mine is the rear view mirror.

Hence my UK M2 order for 2017 ( when i return home from US ) is specced as manual seats.

Anyone know the weight saving?

Not enough to matter or feel unless you are a professional... and, even then I'm doubtful. Put anther way, practically irrelevant

Ok, that doesn't seem like enough to get fired up about... But I'd still like the option to have more headroom (helmet-room, really), plus save a few $$

Yes they weigh more and the package to get the power seats also adds motorized mirrors and other crap that adds even more weight. The 1M was available with manual seats which not only were lighter but gave you close almost 1 1/2" more headroom. The power seats sat higher. Also, I have two small kids and actually have to put them in the back seat. While initially finding the right position for the driver is a PITA, I only do it once. After that, the manual seat remembers the position. Furthermore, when you actually put people in the back seat, the manual seats instantly slide all the way forward and instantly slide all the way back to quickly get people in and out of the back seat. The power seats are the true PITA if you regularly have to put kids in the back seat as they have to electrically slide forward, then back. My ZHP has power memory seats and I do like that feature but it's only real benefit is if you change drivers all the time. No one else drives my cars and the benefits of lighter car, more headroom/helmet room and quicker back seat access outweigh the benefit of a memory seat on a one driver car. If you are changing seats with the wife every other day, then the memory seats are worth it but seeing as how you are talking about an already heavy M car, adding more weight for little real benefit makes little sense.

You're right. Was thrown off by the left hand drive pics.
