US allocations

Has anyone been contacted by their dealers for their allocation order? I am 3rd on my dealer's list and have not been contacted yet. I do know that one of my local dealers that did not take deposits or build a list has received an allocation to order a vehicle. Any idea when the first set of allocations will be released?

I was contacted today. I'm told I'm first (after launch car) and the car enters production 4/14.

So you were told that BMW had informed your dealer that it was being given at least one allocation, effective now? Or that it would get an allocation in April that would allow production to start on April 14? In either event, the allocation was for a custom built car, spec'd by you? Not a dealer model or HEA car?

I am trying to square what my dealer is telling me with this, so when I call him I can bug him correctly

Once it starts production, about how long until it's actually finished? Trying to time an ED trip so would like to figure out the latest sop date.

Definitely custom car. Not HEA. Not sure of other technicalities. I was originally (couple weeks ago) told they have 3 for customer orders and I got #1. Was told today that the manifest was updated to show a production start date of 4/14. Sorry I don't have better details.

No. He said not yet. I asked if that would come on 4/14. He said should be sooner, but was not certain when.

I am 1st at my dealer and have receive ZERO intel from my dealership. I have had my buyers order signed, Credit check done, ED dates submitted and my name on a build sheet w/047 status for over 5 weeks now and NOTHING. I am starting to believe my ED trip with friends will not happen this May. Hopefully they will be able to hold a '16 for ED in Sept then.

Seriously considering putting in an offer for an M3. I am worried they won't give my deposits back since I technically signed a buyers guide committing to purchasing the car.

From the f80 site:
"The second thing I want to mention is that your build week is actually the week your car is scheduled to FINISH production. So, it should start production a week or two before the build week."

We might not be sol quite yet. I think once the dealer gets the official allocation they should know that production date.

Don't think any US dealers have gotten customer allocations yet.

If you don't have a production number yet, that may be worrisome. Not having a number means you're not in line yet for production.

Several of us in Canada have ours already and no date assigned (looking like late May production, July delivery), so if you don't have a production number, chances are it'll be after that.

Really wish BMW would be more upfront about info on the M2...I guess it is a limited model for now.

I find that a bit hard to believe. They've hyped up the 4/16 launch in the US like crazy and to not have customers orders start production after May makes zero sense.

Especially for the largest M market, where they have been showing off the M2 like crazy. BMW may be focusing on US spec M2's in April, or at least I hope for the RS Touring trip!

It makes sense if that's what production capacity allows.

I agree.

Since April 16th is a hard date that has been out there for awhile. Is that date feasible if no one really has a production number yet? How long does it take to get from farm to table???

IS @ 36 days possible???????? That seems really tight to me, no?

I was told, again with no way to verify, that my dealership's experience is about 50 days from production begin to arrival at the dealer. Take as input, not as fact, as I cannot substantiate it.

I'm 6th at my dealer and have been told to expect early to mid 2017 delivery. So from that I would assume they are expecting about 4 allocations a year?

I've never actually factory ordered a car (the M2 will be the first) so not really sure how the whole allocation and timing works but thats my educated guess.

I'm 2nd on my dealer's list and I have been told they will only get 3-4 cars this year. They are a very large dealership.

Sounds about right. The dealership itself isn't very large but it's one of the largest moving ///M dealerships in the nation. Which I'm fairly sure is what the M allocations are based on.

Production of M2 is seriously fucked up, they completely misjudged demand.

On the other hand, you should not complain too much, at least the US is getting a lot of cars first. In the home market (Germany) even orders done in October 2015 will only be delivered in October 2016 or later...
