Fogged up headlights / condensation: this is not normal, is it?
Hi ll, before I cry wolf I wanted to run something by you. I've had my M2 since mid December, and just today I noticed the lights are fogged up and have condensation in them on both sides. This only became apparent when it was snowing outside and the temp was at freezing. And no, the water and vapor are not on the outside. I wiped and checked and then cheeked again. If I leave the low beam on long enough it clears up.
My first thought was seal failure. Then I realized it happened on both sides. Seal failure on both sides of 2017 MY headlights? That seems wired. Is this normal? Am I missing something? Are the lights vented somehow and I just don't know? Thanks for your input.

Mine will occasionally fog up after a wash and ~30min to an hour later will be back to normal so I'm pretty sure the headlight assembly isn't sealed and there are breather holes that will allow condensation like that to dissipate over time. Presumably, the length of time that they stay fogged up will depend on things like temperature, humidity and if your car is parked outdoors or not.

I have never had this problem and my car sits outside all winter in rainy and damp Seattle. I would talk to a service advisor.

I also live in an extremely rainy area and have had no condensation issues in some major downpours. My old 2016 Ram truck though, did have headlight condensation issues which would evaporate with headlight heat and the dealer called it "normal".

Yeah it happens to me after a wash too. It's pretty annoying and I'm thinking about taking it into the dealer this spring.
