Removing 3M Tape from Spoilers
Anyone have any tips/tricks to remove old crusted 3M double sided tape that BMW uses to secure M performance spoilers? I was able to remove my CF spoiler from my M2 without damaging it but there are lots of chunks of hardened 3M tape on the spoiler that I need to clean off so I can put fresh tape on for my new car.

Stoner tar and sap remover combined with a plastic card to lightly scrape it off.

To include a heat gun. That's what I used to add my Vorsteiner.

When I removed the factory lip spoiler on my old e92 M3 I tried that to remove the adhesive left on the trunk lid. Took almost an hour to remove about a foot. My buddy who works at a body shop stopped by while I was working on it and laughed while telling me about the eraser wheels they use at his shop (3m, same ones linked by another poster above). He brought one by the next day and the remaining 3 feet were done in about 2 minutes.
3m eraser wheel gets my vote! |

Cool, I already got the goo off the trunk just need to get the rest off the bottom of the spoiler since I'm reusing the spoiler on my M2c.

3m adhesive remover, works great, I used it to clean up and reapply the stock spoiler on my M235i after the dealer really screwed it up.

That's what I used to take the spoiler off, seemed to work on the tape that was softer but it was difficult to get the old hard tape off. |
