My M2 N55 had a horrible downtime between gear changes by demanding 100% of the engine. It was 6MT. I found it exasperating. I hope the competition does not have that problem with a manual gearbox

I think these guys do the best car review videos, they were at least 25% responsible for me buying my BMW M240XI!

So for this engine if he is referring to the actual definition of turbo lag....I would say yes...pretty much no lag
That is the original definition, but it has been displaced by other people. It’s impossible trying to point out to younger people what turbo lag - a term they didn’t invent, but adopted - actually is, because it’s not a phenomenon you have any more! Off-boost lethargy, as it was often called in the U.K., has also been eradicated by turbos whose threshold is very low by comparison, high compression engines (a turbo used to mean a lower compression) and boost that is controlled much better to avoid a sudden thump - think ‘80s Saab Turbo or ‘90s Nissan.

Edit: Turbo. God, Apple autocorrect is garbage!

These guys are awesome cause they just love driving. It feels more like they're just talking to you over a few drinks rather than them reviewing a car. Either way I knew the M2C was good but I really should try one out for myself soon.

What handling tested? You drove in a straight line.
This is typical Toronto / Ottawa roads.

All BMW "turbo boost," even with a basic boost controller, is wayy more linear and controllable, at full load..

I remember, not too long ago, the Lancer Evolution 9 had a built 4 cylinder motor with a brawny size turbo, it would lag at first, then it would build up full pressure, propelling it forward like a raging bull. You would then easily spin out all 4WD, even with its fancy diff..

I knew a couple of folks that lost control, at the edge, when the 'turbo boost' kicked in..

BMW does turbo differently, they use it as an additive, when the naturally aspirated portion of the motor becomes tapped out.. The boost is more calculated, controlled than the typical syntax "turbo boost" is originally conjure when reference it uncontrollable power.

BMW use turbos is to add to their already capable motor, not be the leg behind it.

I don't know why people love these guys. They rave about every car, their reviews are too long, and they seem like total geeks.

I agree. These 'reviews' are first impressions where they tick off all boxes in the latest press kit and play bullshit bingo for the rest of the video.

Ya...pretty weak channel. Have watched it before. ALL their videos I've seen have the exact same skit. Annoying!

These YouTube car channels are a joke...a dime a dozen and none worth more than a dime.

If you choose to take a shot of tequila each time these two grown dudes says the word "like", go buy an agave plantation in Mexico. The world will be in short supply.

I wouldn't complain if I had an M3 or an M2, but i thought I'd let you know that many of the reviews of the M2 comp say it's the best current m car. Just saying

I disagree with those who say The Straight Pipes gives every car a glowing review; I’ve seen enough of their reviews to know they call a stinker out on being a stinker. Their shtick is still entertaining to me, and I’m 37 years old.

I had the honor of watching this video early because how amazing these guys are, Yuri and Jacob rule and deserve to be the biggest car reviewers out there.

The straight pipes guys always do good reviews. Very informative and entertaining. It's like sitting on the couch with a couple of your friends and discussing your favorite cars. Not pretentious or too flashy. Good overall review on the new M2c.

Only car reviewers my wife will sit to watch.

Not sure if that's a good thing or not but I do find them entertaining.
