Like in warm weather even the non comp M2 struggles on 265 rears. A 235 rear winter tire seems basically insane IMO for dry cold weather driving. Plus it looks ridiculous unless you run spacers. And running spacers isn't that desirable in crap conditions.

It's no typo. I have original 641M from BMW, they are indeed 235/35 all around. You cannot rotate them since the rear rims are wider.

Looks are about acceptable for a winter setup.

I believe there are two packages for 641M, one set does have 255s, I think intended for the M3/M4.

Well, hadn't seen this thread in a while. After almost 2 months on these wheels and tires, and with an oddly warm winter in the Portland metro, I'm overall pretty satisfied with them. The stability issues waned with tire wear-in. I haven't gotten to drive in any snow at all (darn), but I've driven to work on iced streets and in sub-freezing temps multiple times. On the coldest morning this winter, when the streets were slick and the traction control light was having a field day, I did better on the road than the Explorer in that was front of me for most of the trip (we were both driving with care).

The car has handled well in rain, and well enough when the temps were higher than the tires were intended for. When they wear out (or just for fun), I will likely change the rears to wider tires. If I was driving in real snow consistently, I probably wouldn't but this is Portland.

Stability overall, though, is not what it is with the MPSS's in decent temps, of course. And I'm really looking forward to getting back to my summer wheels.

That is... bonkers. So they just stretch the rear more? Sounds like a mistake. The 9" wheel should have a 255 tire.

BMW's winter tire package is strange. So much better to go 245 square or 245/255.

Considering that it looks like an even chance we won't get back down to freezing again this winter, I'm really tempted to swap my summer wheels back on...but it will be below 40 most morning for the next month. Weird winter.

I just rented a M2C in germany with 18" wheels (small blue brakes) and 235 square snow tires. Handling felt fine driving the mountain roads and autobahn (150 mph). There was no snow/ice on the ground just cold (25F-32F)

Yeah that's just it. If you can't rotate them due to different wheel widths then just run a wider rear tire. Screw it. Running spacers in winter is shitty anyway. I don't know why people don't run staggered winters.

If you barely get any snow during winter and have the option to not drive when it does snow, I would just get all season tires that's known for decent winter traction in OEM sizes. I live in an area with a similar type of winter and use all season DWS06 in stock sizes during the winter. I get much better traction in the dry and haven't had any problems in small snow storms.
