BMW ConnectedDrive Now Available in Canada

I noticed this message on my app and thought I google it. Sure enough, the regional forum under 3/4 series is buzzing!

I downloaded the app but the web site won't accept my VIN code when I try to register my car.

You can lock/unlock vehicle, start interior HVAC, locate vehicle, check status (windows open/close, etc).

I also believe you can send destinations for nav to the car

I installed it with no issue and paired using security code.

Seems to work fine. Some of the mentioned features will be useful.

Took them their sweet time to get this working in Canada.

I don't see this available for Android in Canada, anyone know if it's only available for Apple?

I'm on an iPhone but I thought it looks like some Android users had it working in the 3-series forum.

It was straightforward to set up with my 2017. I think the main differences over the old app are:
  • Check status of locks, windows, trunk etc
  • Check "Control Messages", e.g. tire pressures & engine oil warnings
  • Check Service - lists distances & dates of next services
  • Check fuel level
  • Check mileage (previously I only saw distance to empty)
  • Changes to sending destinations from your phone to the car
  • Sends trip summaries from car to phone

With 2017s at least, it doesn't appear to allow unlocking, instead it only allows locking.

It seems like an improvement over the old app but not an incredibly large improvement.

BMW Remote does most of these things including honking your horn and locking the doors - from another country.

Thanks! I had given up on the old version - it was pretty abysmal.

Is one able to unlock the doors, though? It doesn't appear to be an option for me.

I don't have the option for my 2017 to unlock.

I seem to recall my "Delivery Specialist" for my 2014 228i saying that you had to call and speak to an operator to unlock the car, they did that for security reasons apparently. That was back in 2014 but it seems they haven't changed it since then either.

I did it wirelessly. During the setup process, the app sends a security number to the car which shows up in your Messages area. You then enter the code on your phone to sync it all up.

I re-loaded the app on my iPhone and this time I connected but when it came to registering my vehicle and the address field is for US addresses so I can't finish the registration.

I've had the My BMW Remote app installed on my Android device a long time ago but have given up on it as it was so troublesome trying to sign up.

I came across this thread today and decided to try the app again. I noticed that within the app now, there's a prompt telling you to open the BMW Connected app in Google play.

After opening, play store then tells me that, this Item is not available in your country.

Guess its still a no go for Android users...

Don't worry, you're not missing out...

As an iPhone user, the main feature I want doesn't even work on the app.

Lock/unlock feature requires me to call "BMW Assist", so I call and they said they cannot help me because I am in Canada.

Go back to the dealer and they tell me to use My BMW Remote US app, but that doesn't work either because it just straight prompts me to download the BMW Connected app... exactly like you said... total BS!!

I'm using an iPhone and it took me several tries to connect before I got it working. Now that I have it I realize it's pretty useless in it's current form.

I am really happy with the new combined app. You must make sure that you have the remote control box tick on your Connected web page....otherwise the remote options won't work. Mine works perfectly and tells me exactly where I parked my car and handles the maps way better than the old CDN app. You can't down this in Canada . You have to down the US app.

I have the remote app and it's paired and working, when I download this do I need to create an account? Does it cost money? When I go to put in my details (address, phone number...) it says could not complete profile?
