19"? the ones I'm running on my 235M are 225/45-17 square set-up. They spun pretty bad this morning trying to get in my garage with an inch of snow!

Can you please post a picture of the rear wheels? I want to mount the winter tires on stock 788m rims as well but Im not too sure about which size to go with. I have two options: 1) Pirelli Sottozero W270 in stock sizes or 2)Michelin alpin pa4 stock up front and 255/35 in the rear. Which tire/tire size should I go for?? Thanks. SS |

I opted for the Kumho WinterCraft WP72 winter tires on my M2C. First impressions during our unexpected pre-Thanksgiving snow storm are pretty good!
In normal dry/cold weather, the tires feel a touch less firm than the summers but that's expected with more tread block movement. Around 50F where the stock Michelin PSS start losing traction, the WP72s allow the car to put down power with decent amount of throttle. I have them mounted on a set of 437M wheels and highway speed (60-75mph) trips are buttery smooth. I don't really notice any major difference in noise levels between the summer and winter tires. On snow, the car felt stable under braking and I was very surprised at the short stopping distances in slush and 2-4" of snow. Getting going is somewhat easy, but there were moments where you really have to modulate the throttle or else the traction system has a seizure in trying to decide what to do. Lateral grip in deeper snow was very good as well. I never felt unsafe when navigating intersection corners or sharper bends on faster roadways. I couldn't find any reviews on the Kumho WinterCraft WP72 besides some translated information from their Korean corporate site. They apparently came out last year and have been on sale in most markets (except the USA; had to get these shipped from Canada). Most importantly, they were W-speed rated and the only other tire in the stock 245/265 staggered combo were the ancient design Pirelli Sottozero Serie II which has a much more rounded tread block design and questionable snow performance based on various online reviews. Hopefully this helps anyone looking to buy a newer compound design winter tire in 245/265. |

I personally wouldn't want to drive a brand new M car in salt/snow/sand/slush. I'd just get a $5000 winter beater and winter storage the M2C in my garage until Spring. |

My M3 has seen 3 hard snow winters up in Minneapolis. And to the OP, I mounted Blizzak LM-32 with the original staggered OEM setup. It always performed extremely well. I always drove in comfort modes, as to not force high revs / shifts and to keep the throttle sensitivity low. The C63S will be my car up in Minneapolis this year, and I mounted Aplin PA4 with the OEM staggered setup. This will be the first year using Alpin, but their reviews have been great in the forums. #nogaragequeensallowed #actualautoenthusiast

Just installed this:
https://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/6...EL----TIRE-SET Great so far. Motered up my steeply inclined driveway with a couple inches of snow over gravel no problem. On stock tires I couldn’t make it five feet. Felt good on the highway too. The entrance fee is high, but I get to use the car in the winter now. And yes, let’s drive these cars, guy! All seasons! That’s why they come with steering wheel heaters, haha! |

That’s my concern. Wouldn’t the 255 look a bit too stretched on the stock wheels? The only reason I want to go for pirelli’s is because they are the only reasonable winter tires available in 265.

I would get a different set of winter wheels, personally. Then you can run 245 square and have lots of options.

really? I didn't hear anything when I had the PSS on.
I initially thought the front and rear wheel got mixed up, but that was not the case.

Im putting continental winter contact TS 860 on the 788M. Had the pilot alpin 4 on my 235i (225 square - it was a great tyre. Saw me through 4 winters) and want to try something new. The 860 is a slightly more recent tyre and has got great reviews against it. Going 245/275

Yeah. I will get it checked when I go for the break in service. I think the left side inner fender liner is not clipped in properly.

I don't notice any rub in my M3 with KW HAS (Adjustable Springs) on stock 265/30-20 front nor currently with 437M 19' 255/35, was actually considering 245/35 for winter in the front.

A report on the factory Alpin square set: Brilliant.
A bonus is that they look good, too, yes? https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/at...1&d=1543275108 |
