Thanks for all your help in finding solutions. There’s a lot of us wanting to get rid of these awful filters!
Shall we replicate our own unity dance and then throw all the filters in the fire?

I really hope it doesn't change for Australian delivered cars anytime soon. I'll be checking my VIN next month as soon as mine is built to see!

As above... can anyone confirm the OFP status for MY19 M2C being built and shipped to AUSTRALIA?

The OFP is as a result of new Euro 6 requirement, but Australia is only just now evaluating those standards thanks to its poor petrol (sulphur) qualities.

Your car doesn't have an OPF yet if I follow your statement. Check with your dealer and discuss if it has them or look underneath the test car they have.

If you don't want them, then make a deal when you buy a M2C that yours should never be delivered with OPFs and if it does then you won't buy it.

Thing is if it has no OPF it will have secondary cats in same place.

....they look very similar and it would be tricky to tell unless you know exactly what to look for.

They look way different... OPFs are twice the size of a secondary cat!

I think I have managed to work it out. Based on WebETK, it looks like the EURO builds 2U71 and 2U72 have an option S1DEA which specifies what exhaust they get, it changes the part numbers for both the downpipes and the center muffler.

So I double checked my VIN and sure enough no S1DEA option on the build list. The only Euro VIN could find was one of the early test cars vb08368 and sure enough, it has the S1DEA option.

So if I am right Australian delivered cars have no OPF and once you have your VIN you can check if you are getting OPF or not. Would be great if someone who has a VIN for e Euro car could check their build and see if it includes "S1DEA Exhaust Emission Standards EU6 RDE".
Hi, I take delivery of my 2019 M2C in Perth on Monday. The dealer said it has the OPF. I ran the VIN on WebETK, but how do I know if it has the S1DEA option? The car id comes back as "VIN... 2U72 475 MDOE F87 Copue M2 Competition ECE R M" Exhaust page say this:

It has a tick next to non opf exhaust, or did you put the tick there?

No, the tick mark comes up like that as default.

Ok is it meaning that is the part for your VIN then?

Item 1 is the only multi choice item on the list. So is tick confirming the correct one? I use realoem.com rather than ETK.

If you use a VIN decoder that will list spec inc S1DEA if present.

Try this one https://www.mdecoder.com/

Then scroll down to "other equipment" s1dea will be listed there if fitted.

Thanks, I tried mdecoder and in 'other equipment' there is no S1DEA, but there is a S1CBA 'C02 UMFANG'. Not sure if that's the same as OPF or not.

Anyway, definitely no S1DEA evident so I'm hoping its without OPF and the dealer is wrong.

Mine (UK with opf) says this:

Other Equipment
S1CAA SELEKTION COP RELEVANTER FAHRZEUGE
S1DEA ABGASNORM EU6 RDE
L812A National Version Great Britain
S1CBA CO2 UMFANG

EU6 is a level within the EU emissions program, does Australia take part in that program? If not then you won't have an EU6 compliant car with OPF.

Which dealer did you buy from beetos? I'm in Perth too but I admit I didn't even ask the dealer as I just researched it myself haha.

I might ask the service manager when I take it for its run in service later this month for fun. Or go crawl under the car later.

But as others have said, I'm 99.9% sure Aus spec cars don't have OPF

It’s from Autoclassic, Burswood. The sales guys were clueless but said they would ask BMW Australia, which is why I got the shits when they said yes as I thought head office would know. Here’s to hoping they are wrong! All indications are the forum members are correct that current 2019 models to Aus are OPF free.
