This issue exists with any exhaust combined with a downpipe or sport cat; It isn't unique to Remus.
I had the same problem with my stock exhaust + 200cell sportcat. Cold starts were always brutal.

You can learn to live with it, put your stock cat back on, or tune the car and delete the cold start procedure.
No other solutions AFAIK. Pick your poison.

It's 100% possible with the MPE. Plenty of people have welded the secondary resonator back on after the fact as well. From what I've read though it doesn't make much of a difference in terms of killing drone (assuming you have an aftermarket downpipe/sportcat).

Also FYI: the MPE has a few quirks such as cold start vibration/rattle, drone at 3k rpm and having to use that silly Bluetooth remote instead of a being able to use your phone or an integrated valve control solution like you would be able to with many other aftermarket systems so just keep that stuff in mind. It's a good sounding exhaust but it isn't perfect by any means. Food for thought. Do some research before you pull the trigger on anything.

Cold start vibration / drone was fixed years ago in the V2 revision of the exhaust.

As he said. The V2 fixed the exhaust slipping back issue do the the crappy interface. They updated it with a slipover & clamp like the f80/82 MPE. They also put braces between the exit pipes to try and cut back on the vibration but if you have the carbon/Ti tips then chances are you will still have the resonating noise. Some do some don't. I still have it so in no way was it fixed. But I also have tips from 2015 that have 25k on them

I have v2 with no vibrations or drone whatsoever combined with a catted downpipe - there were many changes made to v2

Glad yours is good. I just checked out one installed on an M2 locally (v2) and it exhibited both issues, so either installer error or its luck of the draw.

I have the vrsf catless dp and fabspeed muffler bypass. And oh god. It's so aggressive I love it. Pairs nicely with burble tune on Mhd. And makes car alarms in the area go off.

Just got Bimmerlink + dongle - put it into open (it stays open all the time so no more hassle ) and it's glorious, I cannot stop driving and listen to this, best money ever spent, love it.
No Bluetooth remotes, red buttons etc. Will post a clip when I record it properly.
The cracles in Traction mode just after starting up and driving are insane . Downshifts in Sport/Sport+ around 4k are machinegun like .
Put some 911 owners to shame already their sport exhaust is puny in comparison
No offence but a review like this would actually push me away from this setup. I'm passed the loud car phase and want something with more volume but refined at the same time.

Planning to pick up an M2 later this year and leaning towards Dinan at the moment.

I forgot to mention that there's a very easy way to get rid of the loud cold start.

After you start the car leave it in neutral and put your foot on the gas. Raise the RPM very slightly...only 100-200rpm and the car will immediately quiet down a ton. Hold for 30 sec and you'll be good to go.

Remus is exactly that - more refined than MPE and similar volume.
It doesn't rattle at startup and is less weight.

I'll use less emoticons next time, maybe this will convey a more adult message

Here is my M2 with Remus installed:

That actually does help. Nice audio clip too. I'm assuming this is in Sport+?

Just looking for something that doesn't encourage the artificial pops&bangs too much. Guess I'm a little old school by just liking the occasional burbles.

I'm still looking for the perfect M2 but this will be one of my first mods. Hence the search for a tame muffler.

Its all subjective.... but aftermarket exhaust pipes are still pretty quiet with the flaps closed. Once you open the flaps they still sound similar minus depth of tone( Deeper / Higher and under load)

Get a Sports cat first and use it with your stock exhaust before buying an aftermarket exhaust.

My friends and I all run different setups. AA, Akra, Army, Remus, Eismann and with a sports cat they are all just LOUD lol.

I'd like to get a db measurement of any aftermarket exhaust before I get it. I dont want to get problems by the law, but I see nobody take care of this.

Now that California has put noise restrictions on exhausts, we might be seeing db measurements soon.

and yes... downpipe with a HFC first and go from there. Probably going to do a 300-cell HJS.

First few revs are in traction rest is in sport+. There is a sweet spot at 3.5-4k at which when you downshift from 3rd to 2nd there are nice pops followed by a loud bang. I was driving near a wall with open window when it happened for the first time and I was like WTF - spectacular sound and feeling
