M4 seats in my new M2

So, I recently sold my 17 M3 CP and bought a 18 M2 with the intention of turning the M2 into a dual duty DD/light track car. My local dealer sourced a white 6MT 18 M2 from port and it arrived last week. I had some upgrades lined up to be done before delivery, including:

- M4 seats with custom upholstery from iND Distribution (they had some M4 seats from a project car that they were selling separately):

- M Performance exhaust
- M Performance suspension
- Ground Control camber plates
- a few little carbon pieces (diffuser, mirror caps, spoiler, etc)

I also ordered 763M wheels w/ PSC2 tires - the PSC2s are to be swapped onto the stock 437m wheels and used for track and 763m will be for DD. Thankfully the car came with PSS tires rather than the Continentals - happy to see them on the car when it landed at the dealer!

Car is under the knife at my local dealer now getting the work done, but they just sent over a pic with the driver's side M4 seat installed and thought I'd share some of the early results...

MP exhaust unboxing:

MP exhaust installed with carbon diffuser:

Lastly, driver's side M4 seat installed:

Big thanks to iND for the M4 seats and to BMW Kingston for their amazing work, as usual - can't ask for any better!

I'll post more pics of the finished product after the weekend. Hoping for delivery on Friday, then going to do some decontamination and a light polish before taping up the front end and driving it up to Ottawa for some extensive Suntek Ultimate protection and tinting at Upper Class Detailing (thanks Vlad!).

Seats look amazing!

Congrats on your new car! M2 is such a perfectly balanced vehicle, and a blast to drive on the track! I only had one opportunity to drive an M2 at Thermal, BMW's California track, but it was such an amazing experience. Plan to schedule another opportunity!

Enjoy your M2 and definitely post more photos!

Welcome to the "Eastern Ontario AW M2 club", and congrats on choosing Upper Class Detailing

Vlad is an amazing guy - super friendly and his dedication to his work is second to none! I got my car tinted and ceramic coated at his shop last year, and am going back in June for paint decontamination.

Very nice. Would be cool if they had the blue stitching.

Thanks - yeah, looking forward to the lower-weight M2! Not that the M3 was heavy, but hoping that the M2 feels bit more "go-kart" like on the track and twisties.

Thanks! I took the M3 to Vlad and was super-impressed, so no question about who would do the work on the M2!

Great minds think alike - matching the stitching is in the works as I'm planning on dyeing the existing stitching to match. Currently testing out colors on thread to find the right shade.

It would bug me to no end if the seat stitching didn't match the rest of the car. Glad you're on top of things, lol.

Why didn't you just wait for the M2C seats to be released?

Nice!

Were you able to get the dealer to install those seats free of charge with the car?

When I bought my M2, I got them to install all the MP bits for free along with the steering wheel. I tried to get them to install the MP coilovers for free as well but that's where they drew the line. LOL

Because it's highly unlikely that the M2C seats will be available separately (just like M4 seats can't be purchased separately). The only way to get these seats is buying them complete from a wrecker or from someone who's swapped for real bucket seats (track conversion), or to pay $10,000+ to build them from parts - BMW doesn't sell these seats as complete units, and presumably won't for the M2C either. I got a great deal from iND on the seats, and otherwise never would've bothered with the swap.

When I saw that IND logo by the pic of the seats, I thought it was something new they were selling, until I read the post. I got excited for a moment. Congrats on the new M2 OP.

My understanding is that seats from iND were pulled from a project car, so they were used. That being said, they were still into the 4 digit range. They are plug and play (or very close) - key is that both sets of seats are powered, lumbar, heated, etc., so everything matches up.

I did quite a bit of research on the seats, and the only reasonable option is to find a seats that were taken out of a M4 - building from parts is prohibitively expensive.

For the pics, I'm not sure why they're not working - they show up for me?

Mix of increased supportiveness (marginal), looks, and desire for customization . Not a strong rationale, but I loved the seats in my M3, and wanted to make the interior a bit more "M"-like.
