A skinnier tire will help to cut through snow but I only need snow traction in emergency situations or if there's a light dusting during a commute to work; otherwise my only concern is having the proper rubber compound for lower temperatures.
Do you have a picture of these rims on your car? I'm just wondering how they fit.

Also do you know whether or not the center piece can be removed and replaced with the BMW logo? My M2 still hasn't been delivered. I want to find a decent snow tire/rim combination that isn't going to look that bad.

I was a bit concerned about going for the 641M wheels with 235 square tires but after reading this i think i might go for it.
Has anybody information about driving impression at 110 mph (180 km/h) and higher?

Now as we got an appartement in the alps i also need snow chains. Has anybody experience with snow chains on the M2C and specifically on the 641M with 235 square?

Is 45mph to 140mph racing in Winter 19s good proof?

Based on the owner manual you can only chain the 235/40R18, that's why I went with the 640M wheel (and kept the standard brakes).

Just out of curiosity, what wheel do you have these mounted on and have you had any rubbing? Do you happen to have pictures? Thanks!

Pet peeve about snow tires vs. all season tires in testing videos:

All these test videos only show the total difference in distance after getting up to speed and then braking to a stop. I wish some tester would actually break down the difference in getting up to speed, and then the difference in braking to a stop from the top speed. The most important piece of info for safety concerns is the difference in stopping ability, imo, which is lost when they only show the total distance at the end.

Tire Rack does list this data in their instrumented tests. They don't tend to compare across categories that often though. I'd love to know how the PA4 stacks up against the DWS06, for example.

You chose the DWS06 over the PS A/S3+?

I just completed a cross-Canada trip (~5000kms) on 245 square PA4s. I couldn't have asked for a better feeling winter tire, the grip was great but equally as importantly the comfort and noise was the best I've ever felt in a winter tire.

Oh, no, was just using an example. It might be an open question as to which is better in snow though? I'm sure the Michelin is overall better.

I dont even bother driving my car when it rains, I don't know how you guys survive driving them in the snow. I know they're fun cars, but I'm guessing you guys have nicer cars in the garage?

forgive him. he is from California.

as far as snow tires - went with Sottozero 3 in 255/35/19 square mounted on the 788 stockers. rear tires are stretched a little with the wheel lip exposed. driven it 1200 miles so far. no issues.

Just picked up my M2C yesterday and called around frantically trying to find some winters -- looks like Discount Tire can also get Nokian Hakapellita 8s, non-studded, in 245/35/R19s. I'll report back, but I'd imagine the Nokians are a bit better than the Sottozeros.
