None of this is surprising.. adding 8lbs a corner for bigger brakes shouldn't shock anyone. Exhaust is low down weight so doesn't really matter. I mean let's not forget it's got a bigger/more powerful engine. It would be nice if they offered cc brakes but they're trying to keep the cost more attractive. I just wish the back end looked better, it's the only thing stopping me on buying one.

I thought most of the added weight was in the new grill. It's YOOHUGE.

Not much chance of competing with the M3 on track... the wheel base is similar (4.7 inches in it), with the M3/4 being less twitchy. M3/4 is 80lbs lighter and almost 200lbs lighter than M2C. Not to mention the optional CCBs or Titanium exhaust. The heavier M2 with slightly shorter wheelbase puts more weight on the rear during initial acceleration from stand still. Size is practically the same.... but the M3 is lighter. Great car for the price. |

Why so many complaints about the exhaust? The M2C's S55 uses twin turbos so it will naturally require more exhaust components. Considering the healthy power bump over the N55, I don't see how anyone could complain. It's also mostly in the rear of the car which should help to balance out the heavier engine.
Brakes are probably overkill, though. If the base M3 can get by with the 4 piston calipers, then the M2C can as well. It definitely seems like a fairly large compromise in unsprung weight for what is largely a cosmetic upgrade for most people. |

Interesting comparison and not all that surprising. The exhaust weight difference is significant but it's really just the F80/F82 system. M2C is a good evolution and the weight gain is unavoidable.
My M2 weights 3379 with 1/2 tank fuel and me standing on the curb - post mods. |

Those debating aftermarket brakes - for the cost of kits such as AP racing, why not just swap factory carbon ceramic rotors to save weight?
